The brilliant Baaeed is by far and away the most backed horse for Royal Ascot 2022 through oddschecker this year and kicks off our 4/1 treble in the Queen Anne.
Queen Anne Stakes
Baaeed
The William Haggas trained four-year-old showed up well on his reappearance run in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last month, winning by over three lengths from Real World, and remains the red hot favourite (4/11) for the Queen Anne Stakes on the first day at Royal Ascot.
So impressive was his run at Newbury that connections of his nearest challenger on the day immediately made plans to avoid a rematch at Ascot.
Saeed bin Suroor, the trainer of Real World, was quoted as saying: “He’s run a big race back on turf and jumped well from the stalls, having missed the break last time. There is no disgrace finishing second to the best horse in the country and Europe, if not the world. If Baaeed’s going for the Queen Anne, Real World would go for the Prince of Wales’s.”
At the time of writing, one week out from the start of the festival, Baaeed has taken a huge 84.88% of the ante-post bets on the Queen Anne through oddschecker and accounts for just short of 10% (9.38) of all bets across all races in the five-day schedule.
St James's Palace Stakes
Coroebus
Second on our most-backed list one week out from Royal Ascot 2022 is the Qipco 2000 Guineas winner Coroebus, who edged out big pre-race fancy Native Trail at Newmarket to assume strong favouritism (8/15) for the St James’s Palace Stakes.
Andy Holding explains HERE why it would be a massive shock if one of the boys in blue for Godolphin doesn’t win the day one feature race, with stablemates Native Trail (13/2) – dominant in the Irish version of the Guineas three weeks later – and Modern Games (14/1) among the likeliest contenders to Coroebus.
Coroebus has taken 63.89% of the bets for the St James’s Palace Stakes through oddschecker so far this year, and 4.52% of the bets across all of the week’s races.
Prince of Wales’s Stakes
Bay Bridge
Bay Bridge (13/8), the big favourite in the day two feature race, rounds off our most backed list for Royal Ascot 2022. However, Architect Tips has his eye on two-time Japanese Group One winner Shahryar, who could be prepared to travel overseas and be supplemented for the race by trainer Hideaki Fujiwara.
He said: “It’s surprising to note that for all the success they have arrayed across the world, Japan has yet to have a single winner at the Royal Meeting. That could all change this time round though with the Dubai Sheema Classic winner, who must have an excellent chance with some high-quality form in his catalogue.”
Shahryar is the third most backed for the Prince of Wales’s Stakes through oddschecker this year (second is last year’s Derby winner Adayar) but Bay Bridge has attracted by far the most bets. The four-year-old colt finds himself in 60.21% of the betslips for the race (3.41% across the week).
