Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
14:50 Yarmouth
The Anthony Carson trained HENRY THE FIFTH (best priced at 11/4) got off the mark in his career over this course and distance last month and should hold strong claims off a 5lb higher mark. The four-year-old won well nine days ago by 2 ¼ lengths over this trip of 1m6f staying on well under Jimmy Quinn.
Henry The Fifth won that day from 4lbs out of the handicap so he technically is only 1lb higher here under a 5lb penalty meaning that he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights with his new rating of 58. Jimmy Quinn once again retains the ride and he should prove hard to beat off top weight.
15:40 Newbury
The Hughie Morrison trained BEARAWAY (best priced at 15/8) has progressed with each career start to date and could get off the mark in this 0-90 handicap. The four-year-old has finished 2nd at Southwell before finishing a close 3rd on his handicap debut at Kempton last month off a mark of 82. The handicapper has raised the gelding 2lbs up to a mark of 84 but he is interesting now with Ryan Moore booked.
Ryan Moore has a good record for Hughie Morrison in his career- 28 wins from 128 rides (22%) with showing a profit of +£35.17 to a £1 level stake so his booking is a positive and I expect Bearaway to prove hard to beat off this mark on his turf debut.
16:15 Newbury
The Andrew Balding trained NIETZCHE'S STAR (best priced at 9/4) hacked up on his handicap debut at Lingfield last time and he should prove hard to beat despite running off an 8lb higher mark. The three-year-old had previously shown very little on his three career starts to date but was well supported to win on his handicap debut last time at Lingfield. That was his first start for 245 days and his first run since a gelding operation so it is easy to see where the improvement has come from.
The handicapper has raised Nietzche’s Star 8lbs for his easy victory last time and I expect him to prove hard to beat upped slightly in trip to a mile for the first time.
