Four of the most eye-catching chances for Ryan Moore at Royal Ascot 2022, which you can consider for an Each-Way Lucky 15.
Ascot Stakes - Tuesday
Willie Mullins has an unsurprisingly strong record in the Ascot Stakes, having accounted for four winners from the last 10 renewals with Ryan Moore leading three of them home. Last year, they nearly added another with MC Muldoon going down by a short head.
This year, they have another likely type with BRING ON THE NIGHT at around the 5/1 mark.
After easily winning a maiden hurdle at Naas, the son of Gleneagles got pitched in the deep end in the Supreme at Cheltenham, which was a notably hot renewal this year with three of the four major players standing their ground.
As Constitution Hill clocked the quickest supreme in history, Bring On The Night made nice headway before finding himself a tad flat footed against more experienced and developed rivals.
His run at Punchestown may look disappointing on paper, especially in reference to market expectations, however a sharp two miles on good ground in a small field may not have been up his street and this step up to 2m 4f in a big field handicap should bring his stamina to play.
He’s won twice on the flat already and should have a good chance in this.
Wolferton Stakes - Tuesday
In the following race on Tuesday, REGAL REALITY may have a better chance than his odds suggest at 14/1. Michael Stoute has a terrific record with older horses and Regal Reality seems in good form at the age of seven based on his listed 2nd.
The son of INTELLO was 3rd in an eclipse behind enable and magical in 2019 and has a distinct preference for quick ground.
Therefore, his 3rd in this race in 2020 on soft ground can be upgraded and if the forecast holds he should have an even better chance this year.
Moreover, that run came after a 243-day absence and so he clearly goes well fresh. Back on quick ground he can add some more black type to his CV.
Royal Hunt Cup - Wednesday
In the Hunt Cup, Moore has another good chance with ASTRO KING. A horse who was well backed last year, he bumped into a true group horse in a handicap in the form of Real World. That horse is now rated 118 and most recently 2nd to superstar Baaeed in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes.
The son of Kingman is only 4ib higher than his 2nd last year but was 1st in his group and nearly two lengths clear of the 3rd.
He reappeared with an eye catching run at Thirsk where constantly running into traffic but that run should have put him spot on for Ascot in regard to his fitness and has meant his mark is unchanged.
A lot depends on the draw in such a big handicap which, obviously, is not yet revealed but he seems to have a massive chance of rectifying last year’s 2nd.
Windsor Castle Stakes - Wednesday
Finally, Aiden O'Brien has decided to send LITTLE BIG BEAR to the Windsor Castle Stakes - splitting up his battalion of exciting two-year-olds.
The son of No Nay Never travelled strongly before being run down on the line over 6f on debut. The winner however was a respectable 2nd to another Ballydoyle colt, Blackbeard, in the Group 3 Marble Hill stakes next time out.
On his next start he certainly improved for the drop to 5f when bolting up by three lengths to previous Dundalk 2nd Alexis Zorba. Naas is an undulating track and so a stiff 5f at Ascot should suit perfectly.
His time figures seem strong and stepping into Listed company seems well within grasp in relation to his time figures and the subsequent Group 3 form of his debut conqueror Tough Talk.
He looks to have a favourites chance of giving Aiden a 3rd win in this race in the last 10 years.
