Baaeed

The hot favourite for the Queen Anne Stakes, BAAEED, doubles up as the most backed horse for the first day of Royal Ascot 2022 since final declarations for the day's racing were made on Sunday.

The brilliant Baaeed showed up well on his reappearance run in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last month, winning by over three lengths from Real World, and remains the red hot favourite (2/9) for the Queen Anne Stakes on the first day at Royal Ascot.

The William Haggas trained four-year-old, who will be ridden by Jim Crowley, is one of seven runners confirmed for the festival's opening race.

One-sided on paper, the second favourite for the race is Real World (8/1), whose trainer originally made plans to avoid an Ascot rematch with Baaeed.

Saeed bin Suroor was quoted as saying: “He’s run a big race back on turf and jumped well from the stalls, having missed the break last time. There is no disgrace finishing second to the best horse in the country and Europe, if not the world. If Baaeed’s going for the Queen Anne, Real World would go for the Prince of Wales’s.”

At the time of writing, Baaeed has taken more than 7% of the bets across all races on Tuesday and a huge 69.26% of the bets on the Queen Anne Stakes.

Coroebus

Second on our most-backed list for Day 1 at Royal Ascot 2022 is the Qipco 2000 Guineas winner COROEBUS, who edged out big pre-race fancy Native Trail at Newmarket to assume strong favouritism for the Royal Meeting's first feature race of the week - the St James’s Palace Stakes

A best price 8/15 this time last week, Coroebus has drifted slightly with some of the bookmakers on the oddschecker grid to a new industry best of 8/11.

Strong players in the ante-post betting, Godolphin stablemates Native Trail and Modern Games have not been declared for the race, leaving My Prospero - trained like Baaeed by William Haggas - as the second favourite at best price 9/2.

Coroebus has accounted for 6.74% of the bets across all races on Tuesday since final declarations were made on Sunday, and a dominant 38.11% of the bets on the St James’s Palace Stakes.

Persian Force

The third and final leg of our Day 1 most backed treble for Royal Ascot 2022 is PERSIAN FORCE, whose recent performances indicate he could be a star in the making for the Richard Hannon team.

An impressive winner of the Brocklesby at Doncaster on his racecourse debut in March, he backed that up with a scintillating display as an odds on favourite at Newbury just seven weeks later.

He looks like sharing favouritism for the Coventry Stakes (15:05) with Blackbeard but has taken almost double the number of bets through oddschecker than Aidan O’Brien’s two-year-old. Between the two, they make up 39.46% of the total bets on the race.
