Top of our most backed list for Day 3 at Royal Ascot 2022 is WALBANK, a winner at York over 5f in his most recent outing last month.

Sam Turner said this about Walbank in Monday's episode of Racing Weekly: “Hopefully Walbank gets declared for the Norfolk as he's a sparkling two-year-old.

“I was very taken with him first time when he finished second behind the Godolphin (Noble Style) at Ascot, and then he went to York where he needed to be wound up in that field of four, but I think the stiff five at Ascot is what he wants and so he's a fair bet in that.”

Since declarations were made on Tuesday, Walbank (15/8) has found himself in 4.88% of the betslips for the day as a whole and 31.91% of those specifically on the Norfolk Stakes.

Reach For The Moon

Patriotic punters have been out in force in support of REACH FOR THE MOON, who spearheads the Queen’s Royal Ascot team in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes on Thursday.

Having missed Epsom, John and Thady Gosden’s colt finished second to My Prospero in the Heron Stakes at Sandown on his comeback in mid-May and steps up slightly in trip to 1m 1f 212y.

The three-year-old (2/5) is the second most backed horse for the third day of Royal Ascot 2022 since final declarations for the day's racing were made on Tuesday morning.

At the time of writing, Reach For The Moon accounts for 4.53% of all the bets across the seven-race card and a huge 68.04% of all those on the Hampton Court Stakes.

Kyprios

Stradivarius would almost certainly be the most popular winner of the Ascot Gold Cup, but the eight-year-old trails the much younger KYPRIOS in the latest bookmaker odds. 

Racing Weekly host Rishi Persad told listeners: “Trueshan probably won't run because of the ground and Stradivarius (9/4) at his age might be a bit vulnerable, so Kyprios (6/4) is my selection.”

In his preview for the race, Stu Williams agreed with Persad. "If there’s a potential staying superstar of the future in this contest then it’s most likely Kyprios, who has improved for the step up in trip this season and could have any amount of untapped potential,” he wrote.

“His two-and-three-quarter-length defeat of the 110 rated Search For A Song reads well and he shaped like a Group 1 horse when slamming the 101 rated Sunchart at Leopardstown last month. 

"The Galileo colt is bred to stay and has significantly less miles on the clock than many of his rivals. No trainer can better Aidan O’Brien’s seven wins in this race, demonstrating that he knows exactly what is required to land this prize."

Kyprios has received 3.59% of the backing across the seven races on Day 3 at Royal Ascot 2022 and 27.45% of the bets on the Ascot Gold Cup.
