SELF PRAISE went into many notebooks when finishing second in the Woodcote at Epsom after making up a considerable amount of ground in the closing stages. The step up to 7f is unlikely to be an issue and the son of Twilight Son is likely to put his experience to good use in a contest lacking depth on paper. Killybegs Warrior appears the most likely danger representing top connections, while Hurricane Kiko completes the shortlist.

This contest appears to be a match on paper with Al Nafir, a winner on his second start at Kempton in November, and JUDITH, who scored on debut at Ascot last month, both setting the standard. Preference, though, goes to the latter as she won with a fair bit in hand on that occasion and Benoit De La Sayette's 5lb claim boosts her claims further. Al Nafir is a full-brother to multiple Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath and is expected to progress stepping up to 1m2f, while Mountain Road appears best of the remainder.

Godolphin look to have a strong hand here with Return To Dubai, who wears cheekpieces for the first time, and COSMIC DESERT. Both have shaped with lots of promise in novice/maiden company and hold leading claims on handicap debut, but jockey bookings seemingly point to the latter so he shades the verdict. Adjuvant has posted two solid efforts since returning and he is likely to give another good account, while Nottingham scorer Atheby cannot be ruled out either.

It Is Now improved throughout his juvenile campaign and is respected on his seasonal/handicap bow following a gelding operation, while Royal Rift and Duelist are others to watch out for.

Cases can be made for every horse in this field so STUNNING BEAUTY is only a tentative selection. Saeed bin Suroor's mare ran well for third over a mile at Ascot last time and Christian Howarth's 5lb claim could be just what the doctor ordered. Night Narcissus won back-to-back races at Wolverhampton earlier this year and is interesting back on turf, while Divine Magic went close at York and runs off the same mark here. Nizaaka was not far away at Newbury but a 3lb rise makes life tougher, while Rock Melody was well fancied on her return and could go well with the three-year-old weight allowance here.

Amor De Mi Vida ran well for third at Redcar last time, with Anniversary Belle back in fifth, and appears to have strong claims off 2lb lower here, but it may be worth taking a chance on INCOME. Richard Hughes' filly was never really iin contention at Goodwood last time, but she's 2lb lower in this and if she can repeat her all-weather form here, she could prove a tough nut to crack. Handicap debutant Thakrah completes the shortlist.
