13:32 Newmarket
There has been a lot of money for Victory Dance in this at the time of writing so he could be a notable newcomer but Mickael Barzalona wasn’t exactly seen to best effect last night and I’m going to side with one with experience here. BRESSON (best price 2/1) is a son of Dubawi and I thought he made a really encouraging start finishing third in what looked a good maiden at Newbury. The winner Sydneyarms Chelsea ran a cracker to finish fifth behind Meditate in the Albany yesterday so the form has been franked for me. I liked the run of the fifth Prairie Chief too so it could be a bit of form to follow in time. He is bred to be smart so will no doubt improve from that initial effort and I’m pleasantly surprised 2/1 is available. Of the rest Animate is quite interesting on paper so it will be intriguing to see if there is any money for him.
20:30 Lingfield
With more to come CHIEF OF STAFF (best price 11/4) can get himself back in the winners enclosure at Lingfield on Saturday. He shaped encouragingly on return beaten a couple of lengths over a mile here and then improved to go down just a length to the progressive The Whipmaster over C&D last time. That is good form and up just 1lb he looks sure to go close with Stefano Cherchi claiming a handy 3lb too. Le Forban won here on return (dead-heat) but failed to back that up over this trip at Goodwood last time. He has been given time since though and if bouncing back might be the danger to the selection. Midnight Train landed back-to-back wins before blowing out at Leicester last time. He is just a 3yo so still retains potential and is another one who could give the selection something to think about if bouncing back.
