There should be lots more to come from THUNDERING over this trip and this son of Night Of Thunder gets a confident vote to make the breakthrough at Newcastle on Thursday. He first caught the eye running on well behind Savvy Victory at Pontefract on return back in April. He then acquitted himself well in a race that has worked out notably well since at Newcastle behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Eldar Eldarov. He was only headed at the finish when running his best race to date at Doncaster last time. He is open to further improvement on handicap debut and I can see him going off a fair bit shorter than the 11/4 on offer at the time of writing. Nathaniel filly Lizzie Jean looks the danger having finished behind the selection at Newcastle and then winning at Kempton last time. Liquid Metric is also worth a second look with more to come.

I know there wasn’t much between them at York last time but I can still see DEVASTE upholding that form with Lethal Levi at Newmarket on Thursday. His form all season looks strong having chased home Sterling Knight and Justcallmepete at Windsor on reappearance in a race that has worked out well. He then closed the gap with the former to finish runner-up at Ascot and then bumped into Showtime Mahomes at York. He improved again despite going up 2lb to win at Leicester and then was third to the now rated 107 Harry Three. He is a further 2lb higher here but doesn’t know how to run a bad race and will likely take a lot of beating given this is a slight drop in grade. Lethal Levi is likely the danger but Bear Profit ran well at Windsor last time and his opening mark looks fair so he should be in the mix. Neptunian has had a wind op but this requires more.
