New Bay filly LAGUNA VENETA looks to have a big chance of making the breakthrough for an in-form yard at Leicester on Thursday night. She has been learning on the job so far and while she didn’t set the world alight when down the field on handicap debut at Nottingham she definitely improved to finish third at Windsor back down to this trip last time. That is a piece of form that has worked out well since with the winner Mount Kosciuszko going in again since. The second Eklil has also come out and won at Bath next time. She is off the same mark and William Buick has been booked for the ride so I think they are anticipating a big run. I think she’ll race handily again but hopefully she can get a toe in off Punda Maria who can race freely off the front end. Cobra Kai won well at Ripon last time but everything fell in his lap that day and I think this will be tougher for him under a penalty. No value in his odds at around 6/4 anyway.
