Having shown bits and pieces of promise in 3 starts as a 2yo for Hugo Palmer NOVA LEGEND took a sizeable step forward to finish second beaten just half a length on handicap debut at Leicester last month. That was his first start over a mile and a half and if anything he looked to need further so the step up 2f in trip here could prove ideal. He was staying on well at the finish and the form has been well advertised since with the winner going in again in a deep race here at the start of the month and the third Cliffs Of Fury winning at Windsor earlier in the week. Even the fifth Choirmaster ran well beaten just 2 lengths at Bath next time out so it has plenty of substance. He is up 2lb but looks sure to improve so a big run beckons. The danger is likely Havaila who has also been shaping as though he’d appreciate going up in trip now.

I’ve still got Luminous Light on my radar despite completely blowing out at Newbury last time. He might still need a bit more time but definitely not one to give up on. I like BOX TO BOX here though for Hugo Palmer. He made an impressive start for this yard winning well at Salisbury on return and while things didn’t go to plan at Epsom last time he is definitely worth another chance. I’ll be surprised if he isn’t better than a mark of 81 and this looks a good opportunity to get back on track. Brazilian Beach shared the spoils at Haydock last time and has to be respected on that but a 5lb higher mark will demand more here. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me to see Luminous Light bounce back and finish second to the selection. Griffin Park seemed to need the run at Sandown and if sharper from that is another one that might fare better.
