UK Horse Racing Tips: Hamilton

THE RESDEV WAY was just touched off at Ripon in a similar race to this last week and is now 2lb well-in. The Micky Hammond-trained gelding has been in fine form this year winning three times already and looks to have solid claims of adding to that in the opener. Wickywickywheels was a course winner on her penultimate start but was slightly below par when eighth at Musselburgh last time, though a return to this track should suit. Richard Hughes doesn't have many runners at Hamilton and his only runner on the card, Tynwald, must be respected.

It is hard to get away from the Michael Dods-trained SPARKLING RED, having finished runner-up on both her starts to date. The daughter of Bungle Inthejungle shaped with plenty of promise on debut at Thirsk and then backed that up at Redcar next time when staying on well to grab second. Lola's Moment looks to be progressing with each run and must be taken seriously. Insolente was narrowly denied at Carlisle behind Mersea last month and that form has been boosted with the winner going in again.

Iain Jardine trained the winner of this race last year and is tipped to repeat the feat with THE GLOAMING, who runs in the same ownership. The four-year-old filly has been slowly coming down the weights despite running some creditable races this year and a big run is predicted. Lord Of The Glen was fourth in this race last year and runs off the same mark this time around. Gustav Graves has been beaten a length on his last two starts and things may fall right for him here.

Wait To Excel has weakened late on over further at Thirsk and Yarmouth and could go well dropped back in trip, but he might have to settle for second spot if KING OF ICE improves for the application of cheekpieces. His Lingfield form last November seems the best on offer and a repeat of that might be enough. Winning chaser Monsieur Co intrigues on his return to the Flat for trainer Keith Dalgleish, who won this race last season.

William Haggas has his string in fine form and AMANZOE looks hard to oppose in this small field. Only beaten a neck at Haydock last week, she races off 5lb higher here but gets a 10lb weight-for-age allowance. Sophiesticate can also go close after three top-four finishes here already this season, leaving course winner Crown Princess to come out best of the older horses.

Streamline has been competing in better races than this, has been gelded and had wind surgery since his last start, so is one to watch on his return. Ready Freddie Go has conditions in his favour and should go well but top weight may hinder his claims, so a chance is taken on BOOGIE TIME. A one-paced fourth at Sandown, he runs off 1lb lower now less Rhona Pindar's 7lb claim and he has won off higher marks in the past.

Fircombe Hall has recently shown promise at this distance but was headed near the line on his most recent outing at Carlisle, so preference is for MACHO PRIDE. The four-year-old was disappointing at Pontefract earlier this month but has dropped 1lb since and now races off the same mark that he was narrowly denied off at Haydock in April. Harry Russell is back aboard so his 3lb claim should help the selection get closer. Rose Bandit drops in class and may also be thereabouts.
