POETS COTTAGE disappointed on a recent flat run but previously showed form. He has proven himself on testing ground, ran a nice race when fourth at Sligo in May and while he weakened tamely at Leopardstown 21 days ago, that was over an inadequate mile distance and he should be ready for the season's opening juvenile hurdle. Chargo ran well enough in Dundalk maidens for Johnny Murtagh last winter and has since moved to Gordon Elliott. She meets contrasting ground conditions on reappearance run, over jumps, but her presence in this first hurdle race for juveniles is somewhat notable. Tory Reel ran a nice race, albeit from a low rating, on the flat recently and is a well-bred half-brother to a Group 3 winner and another useful jumper Exchange Rate. He was well held in soft-ground maidens last year but improved when finishing well at Limerick, suggesting he will stay national hunt distances.
Prediction : 1st Poets Cottage 2nd Chargo 3rd Tory Reel

First reserve Movie King is notable but bumper winner LIZLUCKY is nonetheless on a favourable looking mark, on handicap debut. Lightly-raced, she ran well in a useful Punchestown maiden in November and returned with another good run at that track recently and should better her 98 rating. Willie Mullins' Double Talkin Jive ran well in a flat handicap last July and while he also makes his handicap hurdle debut, his jumping form has been disappointing. Delightfantastic met a little trouble when a well-supported third here last month. She meets softer ground and is 1lb higher but today's rider claims 7lb. Jakes Dream ran well on handicap hurdle debut and while she meets softer ground, has won on yielding, over this trip. Rips Dream returned to this sphere with a useful run at Tramore although his best form is on the all-weather or good ground. Listentillitellyea's best form is on a sound surface while Madam Belle was well held in recent maiden hurdles but has some bumper form.
Prediction : 1st Lizlucky 2nd Delightfantastic 3rd Double Talkin Jive

Lightly-weighted SHEWEARSITWELL has a fitness edge over a line-up which includes some Galway suspects. Lightly-raced and absent following a fall last Christmas, she ran well in a Grade 1 in April, won nicely at Killarney and has 7lb in hand over last year's winner Sole Pretender, which reverts from fences and continues in form. Saint Roi is the top adjusted rated runner, was a course and distance winner in October 2020 and has competed exclusively in Grade 1s since. Beaten a short-head by Darasso at Punchestown, he is 9lb better off today but lacks a recent run, with the Galway Hurdle a likely target. Darasso is dependable but has plenty weight while Felix Desjy won a Punchestown handicap hurdle but is held by Darasso and Saint Roi on previous meetings. Celestial Horizon and Francois step up in grade from recent wins while Early Doors and A Wave Of The Sea are better over fences and will have the Galway Plate as targets.
Prediction : 1st Shewearsitwell 2nd Sole Pretender 3rd Saint Roi

LASPAROS finished 'lame behind' when last seen in July but reappears over what should be a suitable distance. A heavy-ground point-to-point winner and a chasing type, he won an ordinary Tramore bumper easily, can be forgiven his Galway disappointment and should be ready today. Troubled Times won a useful bumper first time out at Killarney, with the runner-up and fourth-placed horses winning subsequently. She can progress further but lacks jumping experience. Glenglass was reported to be 'very stiff behind' when disappointing at Killarney (Time Marches On was sixth) but had previously shown form at this distance and is a soft ground point-to-point winner. Mr Saxobeat was held in second-place when exiting in a handicap hurdle last month and while he has plenty hurdles experience, is vulnerable to a few rivals. Ben Vrackie, by Frankel and a short-head runner-up in Royal Ascot's 2019 Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes, reappears following a long layoff.
Prediction : 1st Lasparas 2nd Troubled Times 3rd Glenglass

MOVING WATER has a low 102 rating on handicap debut following a Wexford win. That race was for unplaced horses but the 15 lengths runner-up subsequently finished third from 102, while the fourth-placed horse won a novice hurdle next time out. The Big Chap landed a gamble at Limerick and while 8lb higher, is a big chap who is open to plenty progression. Nelly's Money has done most of her racing in two-mile chases, but won a Down Royal handicap hurdle in February 2021 and is now rated 8lb lower over hurdles than fences. Navigator Jack was fancied in bumpers before winning, when well supported, over hurdles at Listowel, although is without his rider's 7lb claim and is rated 6lb higher. Kingston Retreat competes from a career high mark having been raised 9lb for winning at Tramore while Nazine has obvious place claims following his Ballinrobe run. Four year old Vadaly was under pressure when blundering, and then eased, at Killarney while Sweet Sting would ideally prefer further.
Prediction : 1st Moving Water 2nd The Big Chap 3rd Nellys Money

GAOTH CHUIL meets softer ground than she has yet encountered but is useful and consistent. By Harzand and from a smart family which has form on easy ground, her previous experience is a big help and she bumped into a capable type last time out. Vadsa Queen ran well on debut but failed to build on that when disappointing, when admittedly beaten only two lengths, at Ballinrobe last month (Locorotondo was sixth). King Of The Park, by a leading stallion and out of a Grade 2 winning mare, could be smart while Ballystone was a 120,000 pounds purchase having run well on point-to-point debut for Colin McKeever. Resilient Front, in a tongue-tie, is out of a hurdle winning dam and debuts for a yard which does well in bumpers. Kalahari Diamond, a E3,500 three year old, is out of an unraced dam who is related to some useful winners while Harrington's homebred Scopello is out of an unplaced mare.
Prediction : 1st Gaoth Chuil 2nd Vadsa Queen 3rd King Of The Park
