Sinjaari boasts strong form claims having finished fifth in the Royal Hunt Cup last month but the son of Camelot looks ideally suited by further, so chance is taken on CHECKANDCHALLENGE. William Knight's charge was set a stiff assignment on his third career start when well beaten in the 2000 Guineas, but this isn't as tough and he remains open to progress. Recent York scorer Lion Tower remains in fine fettle and he must enter calculations, while Chance shouldn't be taken lightly on his return to turf.

It's difficult to oppose the unbeaten HEREDIA, whose recent Sandringham success gave further reason to believe the daughter of Dark Angel can dine at the top table in months to come. Grande Dame appears the most obvious threat as she looks to bounce back from a below par effort in the Coronation, while the likeable Oscula should give another good account of herself following a two-length victory at Carlisle.

A top-class renewal of this Group 1 and a case can be made for all of the participants, but preference is for MISHRIFF. The five-year-old was a hugely impressive winner of the Juddmonte International last August and he will be hard to beat if reproducing that level of form today. His two subsequent defeats can be forgiven as he did not have his ideal conditions on either occasion and he may well be underestimated as a result. Native Trail is very interesting now stepped up in trip, having put in an underwhelming effort when scoring in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last time. The son of Oasis Dream should relish this extra couple of furlongs and he is an obvious threat. Vadeni was an easy winner of the Prix du Jockey Club a month ago, but that was a significant career-best effort and he faces a much tougher task today. Bay Bridge was a beaten favourite in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes last time but he was only beaten a length on his Group 1 debut that day and he is another with strong form claims.

In a wide-open event marginal preference is for the unexposed CHAIRMAN, who readily accounted for a decent field on his handicap debut at Bath last time. A 7lb rise in the ratings will make his life tougher today, but the son of Almanzor remains open to plenty of further improvement. Electrical Storm was an impressive winner on his return to action at York three weeks ago and he has to be of some interest on the back of that performance. Protagonist should not be discounted on his stable debut for William Haggas, while Aldhaja and Forest Falcon complete the shortlist.

LAND OF EAGLES showed a determined attitude to justify favouritism last time out at Chepstow, fending off a strong challenge close home. The front pair pulled four lengths clear of the next best rival that day and the George Boughey-trained gelding can repeat that feat off an unchanged mark. Picual shed the maiden tag on her latest outing and rates the most immediate danger, while Wolsey is also worth considering.

The handicapper has continued to give NELSON GAY a chance and the son of Mehmas may give a good account off 2lb higher than his last winning mark. The four-year-old seems to fire at this venue and he can go close with Ryan Moore in the saddle. King Of Stars has become somewhat inconsistent of late but requires the utmost respect in these calmer waters. Despite a lacklustre effort at Royal Ascot, Shamlaan has been progressive this term and completes the shortlist.
