Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
The Linda Perratt trained Sixcor (best priced at 5/1) has been extremely consistent since being fitted with cheekpieces and boasts form figures of 12132 in headgear. The four-year-old won over 5f here off a mark of 46 before finishing a close 2nd at Musselburgh off a 4lb higher mark. The gelding won again at Ayr over 5f in June off a mark of 54 before placing at both Musselburgh and Carlisle off marks of 58.
This return to Ayr will suit him well and he showed last time with his neck 2nd off a mark of 58 that is mark shouldn’t be beyond him. Connections have booked talented 5lb claimer Zak Wheatley for the ride and I expect him to prove hard to beat.
Aberama Gold (best priced at 11/2) is a previous course and distance winner back in 2019 and he is now interesting down to a mark of 87 in a first-timer visor. The five-year-old returned from wind surgery to finish a close 5th at York off a mark of 88 before repeating that effort later that month. He finished only a length behind Tanmawwy at Doncaster off a mark of 87 before slightly disappointing at Pontefract last time.
The Keith Dalgleish trained gelding has been dropped back down to a mark of 87 and interestingly is now fitted with a first-time visor with regular rider Billy Garritty once again on board and four places on offer.
The Jim Goldie trained Yaaser (best priced at 2/1) was extremely unlucky not to win at Musselburgh last time and he should prove hard to beat off the same mark. The four-year-old won at Musselburgh in May off a mark of 52 before following up over this course and distance off a mark of 55 by 2 ¼ lengths.
Yaaser finished 2nd over this course and distance off a mark of 64 on his penultimate start before finishing a head second at Musselburgh a week ago off this same mark of 64. He was blocked repeatedly 2f out that day before staying on well to finish only a head behind the winner. With a clear run I have no doubt he would have won that day and I expect him to prove hard to beat under similar conditions.
