Steve Ryder claimed another two winners yesterday at 5/1 and 11/10, he has three tips for today's action.
The Archie Watson trained DUSKY PRINCE (best priced at 5/4) bids for a hat-trick of wins and should hold strong claims under a 6lb penalty. The gelded son of Prince Of Lir won a handicap at Wolverhampton off a mark of 69 before following up in impressive style with a four length victory at Windsor off a mark of 75 only a week later.
The handicapper has raised Dusky Prince 9lb for that victory but he instead runs here under a 6lb penalty so he is 3lbs “well in” and I expect him to prove hard to beat with Harry Davies taking off a valuable 5lbs.
MASEKELA (best priced at 9/4) outran odds of 66/1 to finish 4th in the Epsom Derby and he should prove hard to beat in this race with the step up in trip to 1m5f looking likely to suit. The Andrew Balding trained colt finished 2nd on his reappearance in the Feilden Stakes on the Rowley Mile course over an inadequate 1m1f trip before staying on strongly to take 4th in the Derby on his first try over 1m4f.
The form of the Derby is working out well with the 3rd Westover winning the Irish Derby in impressive style and the 5th Changingoftheguard winning the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on his next start and this step up in trip to 1m5f should suit him. He looks a St Leger type for later in the season and I expect him win this en route to Doncaster.
The July Stakes is a really interesting race this year with the Windsor Castle winner, Coventry Stakes 2nd and Norfolk Stakes 4th all facing an impressive novice winner in the shape of Mysterious Night. Preference though goes to the Richard Hannon trained PERSIAN FORCE (best priced at 6/4) for a yard who has won this race five times in last ten years including with his sire Mehmas in 2016 and Lusail last year.
Persian Force won the Brocklsby on his debut in impressive style by 4 ¾ lengths before following up at Newbury under a penalty by 2 ½ lengths. He bumped into the impressive winner Bradsell in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot but that looked a strong contest and I expect him to get back to winning ways in this race.
