I’m really keen on JIMI HENDRIX showing his best form at Newmarket on Saturday. His form has a progressive look to it and I thought he ran a cracker to finish a close-up third in a fiercely competitive renewal of the Britannia at Royal Ascot last month. That form has already been well advertised since with Claim The Crown winning next time out having been well down the field on that occasion. The winner Thesis, second Saga, fourth Whoputfiftyinyou and fifth Lawful Command (runs here) all look like horses to follow going forward. The selection is open to improvement on what is just his third start over a mile and he looks a great bet at 3/1 here. Laasudood impressed winning at Doncaster and can progress again so looks a threat. New Kingdom has been gelded ahead of his handicap debut so is another one that might show up well.

The way EXPLICIT won over C&D last month was mightily impressive and I know he has been turned over at odds-on since but the horse he bumped into at Kempton New Definition looks a promising colt for James Tate so that might turn out to be good form going forward. He goes handicapping now off a mark of 78 and should have a fair bit more to come now. I expect Franny Norton to potentially try and make all here and given how well he acted over track and trip he might prove hard to catch. Rock Opera actually beat the selection at Hamilton on penultimate start but I think this speed-favouring track is likely to suit the selection and I can see him reversing that form. Sanks A Million beat the latter at Chester and getting weight might show up well too. Of the rest Shandy Star improved to win at Pontefract but this has more strength in depth.
