EILEAN DUBH recorded a good win on his penultimate outing over this course and distance, but couldn't quite handle a 6lb rise when competing at Pontefract last month. A step up in class should not rule him out given the nature of the aforementioned win and he gets the nod, while Blue For You could well chase him home having run a good second over 1m at Sandown on his latest outing. Isla Kai was not disgraced behind Dark Shift at Ascot most recently and is another to note.

Without A Fight got the better of John Leeper when successful in Listed company over this course and distance last time and looks likely to confirm that form on 3lb better terms in this, but THUNDEROUS is preferred. Charlie and Mark Johnston's gelding got within a length of Stradivarius in a Group 2 here two starts ago and was not disgraced at Sandown last time. Back down to this trip, he could prove a tough nut to crack.

After winning easily at Wetherby on her penultimate start, Danni California was only narrowly denied under a penalty at Thirsk last time, finishing strongly on her return to 1m4f. The four-year-old is an obvious candidate up in trip but she might have to settle for minor honours behind GIFT OF RAAJ, who arrives on the back of a win at Doncaster last month and may have even more to offer. Flint Hill was only run down in the closing stages at Pontefract last time and also makes the shortlist.

In a wide-open contest the marginal preference is for SANKS A MILLION, who filled second place twice prior to getting off the mark over 6f at Chester last time. An opening mark of 77 appears to be fair, especially as the daughter of Profitable remains open to improvement. Rock Opera chased home the selection on that occasion and is an obvious threat on 2lb better terms today. Others to note are Miss Jungle Cat, Just Janet and Misty Blues.

MAHRAJAAN shaped well on his return to action when third over 1m 4f at Haydock in May and the manner of that performance suggested the drop back in trip would be no issue for the four-year-old. The lightly-raced gelding doesn't appear to have reached his ceiling yet and he is taken to give his trainer William Haggas a fourth success in this contest. Rogue Bear has placed in competitive handicaps all season and he has to enter the reckoning along with Anmaat, Intellogent and Achelois.

WINTER POWER tends to show blistering speed from the outset in her races and that has been particularly useful at this track, where she's won her last three including this race last year and the Nunthorpe. Tim Easterby's charge looks well treated in this contest and could get back to winning ways at her favourite track. Caturra was a Group 2 winner as a juvenile and was not all that far away in Listed company at Sandown last time, while handicap winners City Walk and Justanotherbottle are others to note.

BRAZEN BOLT has been knocking on the door of late and is only rated 3lb higher than his last winning mark. Coincidentally, that win at Newmarket in May also came over 6f, so a drop in trip could be just what he needs to return to winning ways. International Girl has been markedly eased in class and is feared, along with Golden Apollo, who represents an in-form stable.
