After going down less than 2 lengths at Limerick I’ve been waiting for RIHANI to run again. He was set to run a couple of weeks back and was heavily backed in the betting before being withdrawn. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the money come again. He ran well at Limerick last month and given he has just the 4 rivals to beat here it looks a fair bit easier to me. This son of Churchill is improving all the time and with first-time cheekpieces applied that could be the catalyst to see him progress enough to open his account. The obvious danger is Explorers Way who only narrowly failed at Ballinrobe. He goes back up in trip for handicap debut and should run his race. The rest all look to be playing catch-up including Nectarine who didn’t really see the trip out at the Curragh and has a bit to prove to spring an upset here.

Malifalki has run well the last twice and is certainly knocking on the door but I’m not entirely sold by his resolution and I much prefer last time out winner COPPER FOX here. This son of Black Sam Bellamy left previous form well behind to win at Uttoxeter last month. He kept galloping under Brian Hughes and was nicely on top at the finish despite only winning by half a length in the end. He goes handicapping off a mark of 104 which is certainly no given but he has only run 3 times so is hugely unexposed. I think he can improve enough to follow up here as it looks a good opportunity. Derracrin was by no means disgraced to finish fifth at Hexham last time where he was sent off at 50/1. If he can build on that he also has to be given a chance but still enough to find with the selection you’d think albeit may well end up finishing second.
