UK Horse Racing Tips: Sligo

ROCK YA BOY YA just about sets the standard on his recent Killarney third. The son of Red Jazz raced prominently on that occasion, tactics that should suit on a tighter track such as this. Bears Hug didn't show a great deal on his first two runs over flights but was better on his latest run at Roscommon. With that effort coming on the back of two nice runs on the flat, he may just be peaking. Wrecking Ball Paul was fourth behind Rock Ya Boy Ya at Killarney but was pulled up since. A slipped saddle was the reason for that below par run. Baron Wild has an identical rating to Rock Ya Boy Ya after just three starts so could be open to further improvement.

DAISY DUFRESNE can continue the excellent run of Jack Kennedy and Gordon Elliott. Aside from one disappointing run at Kilbeggan in May, the mare has been largely consistent since joining the yard. Boasting the highest official rating in this field, she should be good enough to take her opportunity. Elmount reverts to hurdling, having finished fifth at Downpatrick over fences. Although his best chance may be in handicap company, the Ross O'Sullivan trained gelding does have an experience advantage over most. Sky Sprinter needs to improve on what he showed in bumpers but it is far too early to write him off. Ladiam and Brown Monday are also capable of being involved.

HOPHORNBEAM had placed form at this track for her previous trainer and is on a roll now for Gordon Elliott. The seven-year-old by Yeats has recorded comfortable victories at Clonmel and Cartmel and can complete the hat-trick here. Listowel maiden winner Mind Your Money was second to a stablemate of the selection in a novice contest at Wexford for which the handicapper raised her 3lb. She's going the right way and should run well. Some Dove beat a subsequent handicap winner easily in a Kilbeggan maiden and merits consideration along with Wild Caprice who has shown improved form over longer trips on her first two starts for John Ryan.

RED BALL OF FIRE can enhance her fine record at her local track. She won twice over hurdles here last year and has been placed twice on the level in her two most recent visits. In between the five-year-old was runner-up on her most recent hurdles outing at Downpatrick and cheekpieces are applied for the first time in this sphere. Peckham Springs won readily when cheekpieces were fitted on him for the first time at Downpatrick but he faces a stiffer task now off an 8lb higher mark. Two Shoe Tom beat Ena Baie at Ballinrobe in May and there was little wrong with her latest second at Kilbeggan. The top weight should be thereabouts again. Guido Reni has a very poor strike-rate but has been placed on all three runs at this track and could reward each-way support.

ZACCARELA is a maiden after 12 starts over hurdles but has suggested on more than one occasion that he has a race of this nature in him. He was beaten a short head in a 20-runner contest at Cork in 2020 and caught the eye on his first run for over nine months when fourth in a higher grade at Punchestown in May. Maybe 3m stretched his stamina last time at Kilbeggan and coming back to this trip may help him to make the breakthrough. Presenting Lad goes particularly well at Roscommon and, after winning at that venue last month, chased home the gambled-on Petrol Head there on Monday. His best form is all at around 2m and stamina is a query over this longer trip. Alexharwill was placed four times in a row over trips of around 2m2f at Downpatrick in the autumn. He should have come on from his first start of the year which saw him finish sixth to Presenting Lad at Roscommon.

SILVER PLANEUR was a wide-margin winner of this staying contest last year and looks to have been brought to the boil nicely for her repeat bid. She hadn't shown much since scoring by 14 lengths in this race but her fourth at Limerick in May was much more encouraging and she's only 3lb higher than was the case twelve months ago. The booking of a promising 7lb claimer gives her a lovely racing weight. Like the selection, Turbojet is getting on in years but his half-length second over 3m at Wexford in May was a good effort. Top-weight Don't Tell Allen got a canny waiting ride to win a maiden at the same track last month and has plenty of upside after just five starts over hurdles. Useful chaser The Dabbler is interesting off his much lower hurdles mark and local hope Arthur's Baby has indicated a couple of times that this kind of trip is within her compass.

Willie Mullins had a few entered for this and it's hard to look beyond his representative GRIVEI. Sent off odds-on favourite for his debut at Fairyhouse in January, the five-year-old went down by half a length to a more experienced rival. The third won next time and wasn't disgraced in midfield in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham while a couple of subsequent hurdles winners finished further back in the field. Mullins has a formidable strike-rate in this type of race at Sligo. Attaboyarchie, whose rider won a handicap chase at Punchestown a couple of years ago, has shown a good level of ability over hurdles and was second in a Navan maiden in March. On The Sixth Day was well-fancied on debut when runner-up over 2m4f at Listowel and has every chance of being in the money again, while Magnificent Seven, a half-brother to high-class chaser Somersby, is an interesting newcomer.
