With 2 wins from his last 3 I can really see BELL SHOT kicking on now. That was just his second start in a handicap winning at Newbury last month and he was always doing enough to prevail. He drops back a furlong in trip but that doesn’t concern me seeing as he has won over 6f before. This stiff finish should play right up to his strengths and I’m hopeful Buick will always have him well positioned. He has only gone up 2lb and I can see him being rated nearer a 90-horse in time. Lequinto isn’t always the most straightforward but he applied himself well to win over C&D last time. He is up 5lb but if in the same form will give the selection something to think about. A Sure Welcome also won over track and trip last time and has gone up just 1lb so would also have to enter calculations.

Oasis Dream colt STOCKPYLE impressed winning at Chepstow on Friday night. I thought he was a bit short in the betting heading into that race but he was always in control and never really looked like getting beat. His run at Newbury where he was beaten a length by Bell Shot prior to that looks strong form too and before that he bumped into Adjudicator. He is open to improvement and as long as he handles the quick turnaround here I think he’ll have too much for these rivals. That was an apprentice event last time so he escapes a penalty which is another big plus. He strikes me as a colt that will continue to progress with experience and he does look to be coming into his own now. The danger is Justcallmepete back up to 7f. Smiling Sunflower is another one that needs respecting.
