Three-time C&D winner RUBY COTTAGE arrives here off the back of a short head defeat over track and trip last month. She was beaten by a progressive colt in Regal Envoy and that horse has won 3 of his last 4 now. It has already been franked too with the third Adaay In Asia winning her next start at Chepstow last week. She is only up 1lb and while it is a career-high mark now you’d be foolish to rule out a big run given the current form she is in. Jack The Truth failed to fire in Bahrain but has quickly bounced back on these shores catching the eye at Chester on return and then winning here last time. He carries a penalty which won’t be easy but he could easily still be the main danger. Neptunian was last at Newmarket following a wind op but at least wasn’t beaten far. He will improve at some point but his mark looks high enough right now.

The improving SELFISH BRIAN really impressed winning at Leicester last time and that visual performance was backed up by the clock as well. That was just his third start in a handicap and a 5lb rise shouldn’t be enough to anchor him here. He stayed on strongly at the finish so this step up in trip could bring about further progression. Him and Shimmering Sands clearly bring the most untapped potential to the table. The latter is the danger having got within a neck of success here last time. He is yet to taste success though and that makes the selection the play especially at the prices. Make A Prophet was a good second over C&D last time but I feel will need more to trouble the two mentioned above. Ramamaras Boy is already becoming frustrating and really should have fared better last time but backed out of it tamely in the closing stages.
