Back down to a mile MAJESTIC FIGHTER ran huge to miss out by just a short head to Fresh Hope at Doncaster. I rate the latter highly and she ran a cracker in the Sandringham given she was drawn on the wrong side. The selection has only had the 5 starts and just the 2 in a handicap so I’m expecting there to be plenty more to come yet. He was poor on reappearance at Sandown but likely needed it and probably failed to stay the trip too. Dropped back a couple of furlongs here off a mark of just 81 he looks the one to beat in this field. James Doyle knows him well having rode him to success at Wolverhampton as a 2yo so that would have to be a plus as well. The danger is likely Master Of Combat who won impressively at Doncaster but the handicapper has slammed him with an 8lb rise which looks a tad harsh. Shaladar is also respected in opposition.

Belardo filly WISPER has won 2 of her last 3 now and romped away with it to score by 6 lengths at Brighton last time. She is turned out quickly under a 5lb penalty but looks to have found a decent opportunity to follow up. Obviously her held up style can require a bit of luck but given this small field I don’t envisage any issues. Gangway ran really well when second in a good race last time and I think he is the danger but he will go off the front and that should help the selection who will relish having a good pace to target. Night Of Luxury represents Godolphin and ran to a decent level behind Vee Sight at Sandown when last seen. A repeat of that would see him thereabouts again so he has to be respected as well. Eton Blue and Toronado Grey are both decent horses in their own right but this looks to require more especially from the former who needs to settle.
