UK Horse Racing Tips: Leopardstown

MONTESILVANO was fancied on debut at Roscommon and, although only sixth of nine runners, was getting the message late on. It probably wasn't the strongest of races but Joseph O'Brien's colt could improve plenty for the experience. His stablemate, the Churchill colt Wartime Warrior, is a debutant to note along with fellow newcomer Quiz Test. Meggy Moo was immature in her early starts but her Fairyhouse fifth was a step in the right direction. Wave Machine has to enter calculations after his third of eighteen over a furlong less at the Curragh. It will be interesting to see how strong Queen Maedbh is in the market. She impressed in a barrier trial at Dundalk last week.

CORPORAL VIOLETTE beat a useful type in a C&D maiden last month and wasn't knocked about when unable to land a blow against the progressive Warren Beach at Naas. She's been dropped a handy 3lb for that latest run and is well capable of winning a handicap off this sort of mark. Navagio won a Curragh maiden when hooded but was too free without it when fifth to Princess Rajj at Listowel. If he settles better in the refitted hood, he can get involved. Princess Rajj was well beaten when bidding for her hat-trick at Gowran but, given the form of her stable, it would be folly to discount her chances. Inchiquin Star has had two near misses this term and has been penalised as if she had two wins on the board, so this will be harder for her.

AMPESON decisively won a better grade of handicap at Fairyhouse on Sunday and can follow up under his mandatory penalty which is 2lb less than what he's been raised for that success. That was over 6f but he's a dual winner over this trip on the all-weather. She's In The Game was consistent last term including a 7f win under this rider at the Curragh. Her trainer's horses have been hitting the crossbar and she'll come on for her respectable reappearance over 6f in May. Craft Irish scored over 6f at Sligo and the third and fifth have won since. She's another with winning form over this trip and a 5lb rise looks fair.

A guessing game but of a more educated variety given the clues on show at Dundalk's first of two barrier trial sessions last week. CAROLINE STREET was second in a 7f trial and the daughter of No Nay Never can put that experience to good use. Zouperior went one better in a different 7f trial and, with her stable turning out winners with great regularity, she's also a leading contender. Amusement was slowly away before finishing last of five over 7f here on debut but wasn't beaten all that far and should be a lot sharper this time. Library, out of a Group 3-winning half-sister to US Army Ranger, represents Ballydoyle and has to enter calculations as well.

The only filly in the line-up, Trevaunance is tempting after beating a subsequent Listed winner in a small-field contest at Limerick but she faces some battle-hardened campaigners and may have to give best to one of them in the shape of GEORGEVILLE. Ger Lyons' six-year-old goes well around here and had Bear Story behind when winning the Trigo Stakes over 10f in October. He was a fair second to Royal Ascot runner-up Cadillac over C&D last month and can go one better. Boundless Ocean didn't get the trip in a well-run Irish Derby but this sort of distance is probably close to his optimum and, if he settles properly, he won't be far away. Bear Story's trainer had a welcome winner on Tuesday and the Kodiac colt has been running solid races in stakes company all season.

A poorly-contested maiden and the 93-rated POINT GELLIBRAND, gelded since his last run, should win. Touched off by a subsequent Group 2 winner on his juvenile debut, Joseph O'Brien's charge went close over this trip at Cork in May and the next three home have all won maidens since. Oh So Lovely, a half-sister to Eclipse winner Mukhadram, was beaten ten lengths on debut at Dundalk and returns after an absence of three months. She's likely to need more experience. Gatito Rapido showed a bit of promise when finishing midfield in a Curragh maiden last month. She finished upsides a 79-rated colt who landed an all-weather maiden on Tueday.

ROCK OF CANDY only got a 4lb hike for Monday's Killarney win so she's wrong at the weights under her mandatory penalty but can follow up regardless. She stayed on well over 1m3f and going another furlong shouldn't be an issue. This will be her first time to tackle older horses but she might well be progressive enough to deal with them. By contrast, S'all Good Man is 3lb 'well-in' having been raised that amount in future handicaps for last week's near miss at Limerick. His chance is obvious and he comes from a yard that has hit form, albeit still looking for its first winner of the campaign. Duleek Street took a big step forward on his third start of the season when nearly managing to make all at Bellewstown. A tongue-tie, discarded last time, is back on and he merits respect off a 3lb higher mark.
