UK Horse Racing Tips: Killarney

MR GLOBALIST can go one better now having finished runner-up in the opening juvenile hurdle of the season at Tipperary. The Philip Rothwell trained gelding had useful two-year-old form for Eddie Harty but had failed to build on that on the flat this year. However, he looked a decent prospect for jumping when going close first-time up over hurdles. Poets Cottage was well fancied for that aforementioned Tipperary contest but unseated three out when his saddle slipped. He was still travelling well at the time so looks a real threat in this company. Chargo finished third at Tipperary but has work to do now if she is to reverse form with the second. Petrila and Pepsiwithacap are others worthy of consideration.

RUN LIKE FADA has most likely had this meeting as a target for some time. Eoin McCarthy has traditionally done well at the Kerry tracks since taking out a licence, so one would expect his horses to be primed for this week. Run Like Fada went close at Ballinrobe on his handicap debut in May, before slightly disappointing at Kilbeggan last time. He appears to have been found a nice opportunity here. Anyonecanhaveitall was a smart stayer on the flat for Michael Halford before joining current connections. The six-year-old has shown enough on four runs over hurdles to suggest he is well handicapped. My Boy Bob was a beaten favourite at Clonmel last time but is almost certainly capable of better. Our Bobby won very easily at Wexford so has to competitive despite his weight rise.

SHANNON POWER sets the standard on what she has achieved on two runs under rules to date. The five-year-old was third at the May meeting at this track and subsequently went a place better when runner-up at Tramore. Jack Kennedy takes over in the saddle now on a mare who should take all the beating. Shane Fitzgerald had been aboard Shannon Power for her first two starts, so the fact he switches to Kelly's Birr could be significant. The John Ryan trained representative has more experience than most with the four runs under her belt, including a second placing at Down Royal last month. Female Approach and Light Fury should also make their presence felt, while Tasiteasai cannot be ruled out given her connections.

SUMMER TIDE can go one better than his recent Listowel second. Charles Byrnes has his horses in great order right now and this gelding looked back to his best when runner-up in a higher-grade last time. Dark Spark is also dropping in class having shaped encouragingly at Bellewstown on his most recent outing. If anything, the Mick Winters trained horse will appreciate stepping up in trip here, as he had won over 1m5f on the flat earlier in the year. He remains largely unexposed over hurdles so has to be a live contender. Auckland won his maiden hurdle here in May and while the form hasn't worked out in the interim, he could do no more than beat the opposition. Magnor Glory ran well in a stronger race here last time so is another with claims.

ESPION DU CHENET who is proven at this track can record a second course and distance win. Louise Lyons has done a tremendous job with the ex-French trained eight-year-old who has now won six races for her yard. He wasn't disgraced in a conditions race at Listowel last time, having previously won at Punchestown. A specialist two-miler, he should appreciate dropping back in distance for this contest. Unexpected was behind the Lyons horse when fifth on his stable debut at Punchestown but is better off at these weights and should have improved for the run. Defan was a very easy winner at Ballinrobe when last seen and while the handicapper has had his say, the gelding may have more to offer.

THE LITTLE YANK was set a stiff task on his fencing debut when third in a Grade 3 chase at Thurles in March. The previous month he had easily accounted for Ash Tree Meadow in a novice hurdle at that same venue. Although the latter has gone on to win twice over fences at Perth, he won't find it easy to overturn his old rival at these weights. In a race that looks to chiefly concern the aforementioned pair, the John Ryan trained gelding should come out on top once again. Hazran successfully raided Worcester last time but has much more on his plate now. However, as a former winner here on the flat, he is not without his chance. Influential Lady and Absberg need to step up considerably if they are to feature.

SAYLAVEE may not be the most original of choices but looks the one to be on in this finale. The Willie Mullins trained mare was very impressive when wining at Clonmel in May having disappointed on her stable debut three months earlier. The daughter of Shantou handled good ground at the Tipperary track so should have no issues with underfoot conditions. Champella stepped up on a promising debut effort when going one place better at Down Royal last time. As a four-year-old, she receives a weight allowance, while her jockey can also claim an additional 7lbs. Kay's Memory is an interesting runner not only because her trainer does well at this meeting but also for the fact Derek O'Connor takes the ride.
