GYTO's Thursday notebook double pays 10/1.

I appreciate Amanzoe has clocked the faster speed figures to date but AFTER THE RAIN has only had the 5 starts and for me she has potential to do better. She has won 3 of them bringing up the hat-trick at Ascot back in May. She is up another 6lb but her Windsor win before that has worked out really well and the form stacks up wherever you look. This stiff finish will suit and I think she looks great value against the odds on Amanzoe. The latter is definitely the danger having won 2 of her last 3 but a 10lb rise is definitely going to ask more questions and at a short price I’d rather try and get her beat. It’s not just a two-horse race as Nathaniel filly Meleri took a big step forward to win at Newmarket and if she improves again she might not be too far away either. Ardbraccan is the outsider and that is with good reason.

The four-timer may well be on the cards for SOUND OF IONA at Doncaster on Thursday. She won going away over the minimum trip here last time and given that was an apprentice event she escapes a penalty for that success. Her Ayr win has worked out notably well and she is clearly thriving right now. With plenty of pace on again from the likes of Mostallim, East Street Revue and So Grateful this should set up for her closing style and I’m surprised she is as big as 5/2 at the time of writing. J R Cavagin isn’t the most straightforward but if channelling his ability in the right direction he could be the one to give the selection most to think about. At a bigger price Yazaman makes his debut for Kevin Ryan and is also worth a second look if his new surroundings have perked him up. Athollblair Boy best of the rest.
