She did well in the circumstances that day and, given a strong gallop here, she could prove hard to beat. Glenlaurel was visually very impressive at Thirsk on debut and looks an exciting prospect. Royal Charter was green on debut but still managed to get up in the latter stages and she will likely improve for that experience.

JUMBLY didn't get a clear run when sixth in the German 1000 Guineas at Dusseldorf last month and the drop in grade represents a fine opportunity for the daughter of Gleneagles to return to winning ways. Zanbaq went close in the Sandringham despite being hampered by the winner in the closing stages and she must enter calculations, along with Oscula, who has been a model of consistency since her effort in Saudi Arabia earlier in the year. The unexposed Kind Gesture is another name to note.

In an open event a chance can be taken on ACCIDENTAL AGENT, who was second in the Victoria Cup over C&D in May. There's not a lot of pace in this race and it could pay to be drawn high, so that could help this veteran following his encouraging effort in the Bunbury Cup last time. The draw may also help Chiefofchiefs, although a slow early pace may not help this fast-finishing nine-year-old. Tactical has the ability to go well if stall two doesn't prove to be a problem, while similar comments apply to Bless Him. Others to note are Dark Shift, Fresh and Jumby.

Emily Upjohn may have been able to maintain her unbeaten record had she not stumbled out of the stalls when runner-up in the Oaks. Despite missing her proposed engagement in the Irish equivalent last weekend, the sole filly in the field rates a big player. Preference, however, goes to the runaway Irish Derby winner WESTOVER, who went one better than his attempt for Classic glory at Epsom last month. The Ralph Beckett-trained colt can utilise his three-year-old allowance and land consecutive Group 1s, while Mishriff can mount a bold challenge after a luckless second in the Coral-Eclipse last time out.

A small but potentially smart field where preference is for NAVAL POWER, who can maintain his unbeaten record. Charlie Appleby's colt saw off four rivals at Leicester last month with consummate ease, asserting from 2f out despite showing signs of greenness. With stamina in his pedigree, the stiff nature of this track could play further to his strengths as he bids to repel the likely challenge of Waiting All Night, who arguably sets the standard following a creditable effort in the July Stakes. Finn's Charm is another to consider, while Mascapone and Bajan Bandit need to step forward.

Having looked an unfortunate loser at the Royal meeting, SAGA is capable of making amends against some more exposed rivals. Benoit De La Sayette's 5lb claim negates most of the 8lb rise he received for that Britannia effort, and a similar performance can see him home in front. Recent Haydock scorer Tacarib Bay appears likely to give another bold showing, as does Random Harvest, who atoned for her narrow defeat in the Kensington Palace with a deserved C&D success. Bopedro shouldn't be dismissed on his first start for David O'Meara, though more will be required to come out on top.

In a wide-open contest, marginal preference is for HURRICANE IVOR, who steps back into handicap company for the first time since his Portland victory last September. That came from a 5lb lower mark but, having tasted Group-race success subsequently, it may well prove within range. There was little to separate Mountain Peak (winner) and Bond Chairman (second) over C&D earlier this month and they are likely to feature prominently once again. Lovely Mana, who finished fourth in that contest, might not be far away from an unchanged mark.
