Origintrail is in great form after wins at Ripon and Chester, followed by a solid second at Newmarket, and off the same mark here, she seems likely to be thereabouts for a stable in good heart. However, CORINTHIA KNIGHT loves it at Pontefract with four wins from six starts, including landing this race last season, and as he runs off 18lb lower this year, he is hard to oppose at his favourite track. Persuasion is capable on his day and although he is yet to fire this season, he could surprise a few off his lowest ever handicap mark, despite the burden of top-weight.

Modern News may be the best horse in this line-up having already won in Listed company and after a narrow defeat at Windsor last month, but he has to give 11lb to ALFLAILA and that may be a big ask. A winner at Ascot on his return this season, he was slowly away in the Jersey Stakes at the Royal meeting and then finished second at Newmarket in a similar race last time, which looks solid form. Magical Morning and Dubai Icon are others to take seriously on their best efforts, though their lack of consistency recently is a concern.

WILKINS has become expensive to follow despite hitting a place in all three races, but connections seem to have found him a good opportunity here. He weakened over further on soft ground last time out in a race best ignored, but was only beaten a neck over this trip at Redcar in April and a repeat of that may be more than enough to score today. Yakhabar is interesting for his new stable having left Sir Michael Stoute and he might have a say if he improves for his only start, while Positive Force is another to consider, even though the mile may be stretching his stamina.

CANARIA PRINCE held on well to score at Beverley two starts ago and ran well enough when brought out quickly at Hamilton two days later. Given a break of 10 days since that last run, it might be best to keep him onside while in this form. Imperial Khan ran well for third off his current mark at Hamilton last time and looks the danger, though the consistent Bicep could muscle his way into the reckoning.
