Make no mistake I am taking a chance here with POKHARA given the limited form she has shown but I do feel in defeat she has produced glimpses of promise that would make her very interesting in a race as weak as this. I thought she was better than the bare result at Doncaster last time as she just came with her run too soon up the centre of the track and was then squeezed out before being eased. Benoit De La Sayette takes over in the saddle claiming 5lb and she drops back to the minimum trip. She will obviously need to improve but she is well bred being by The Gurkha and I’ll be very surprised if she can’t make an impact in this sort of company. Pretty Shiftwell is favourite but she isn’t easy to win with and was well held in third at Windsor last time so that standard isn’t insurmountable. King Crimson is a 10yo now and while he keeps running consistently he is vulnerable for win purposes.
