GYTO's Saturday notebook double pays 14/1.
13:55 Newmarket
I can see FOX DEGREE proving popular for this so it might be worth taking the 3/1 on offer at the time of writing. This King Power filly showed promise on each of her first three starts and improved on handicap debut to win readily at Ffos Las last time. She loomed up like a well handicapped horse and took it up a furlong from home before galloping clear. The second Kaasib had good form heading into that and the third New Hope Bullet has won convincingly since to frank the form. She is up 6lb but I don’t think that will be enough to anchor her here. Immortal Beauty went down just a head at Ffos Las last time and with more to come she looks the biggest danger. Liberation Bay did well to win last time and has won 2 of her last 3 now but she does lack scope and might find one or two of these too strong.
14:38 Thirsk
I still think HILTS has a fair bit more to come so he looks a good bet to get back to winning ways at Thirsk on Saturday. He made a winning handicap debut off a mark of 63 at Redcar back in April and showed a cracking attitude to follow up at Musselburgh next time beating a good yardstick in Charles St. He failed to fire in a tough handicap at Doncaster but was very much back to form when second to Soulcombe at Haydock last month. That winner looks a nice horse as he followed up at Ascot next time out and then ran a big race to finish fourth to Secret State at Goodwood earlier in the week. The third Tuddenham Green also suffered a luckless passage at Sandown next time and also looks to have potential so it’s very strong form. The danger could be Matched who is likely to do better now sent handicapping.
