14:10 Market Rasen

The Ben Pauling trained Pencreek (best priced at 10/11) is a short price for this race but in truth  I thought he would be a lot shorter than his current odds. The lightly raced nine-year-old has shown improvement on all three of his starts this season especially on his latest two starts since being fitted with cheekpieces.

Pencreek won at Worcester by a neck off a mark of 115 before bolting up at Stratford on Thursday by 15 lengths off a mark of 119. The gelding runs here under a 7lb penalty but if he runs to the same level here then he will be extremely hard to beat. Connections have booked 7lb claimer Dylan Whelan, who has finished 2nd on all three of his rides in the UK this season, to reduce the weight he carries and Pencreek should be able to complete a hat-trick of wins.

Pencreek - 1pt @ 10/11

14:45 Market Rasen

The Sarah Humphrey trained Railway Muice (best priced at 5/1) has run well on his four starts at Market Rasen in his career with form figures of 1143 including a course and distance victory in April off only a 1lb higher mark. That victory came on his reappearance run under 7lb claimer Jack Wilmot before he finished 4th and 3rd at the track on his next two starts.

Railway Muice has to bounce back from a below par effort at Perth last time but that was in a Class 3 0-140 handicap and he now drops into a Class 4 0-120 handicap. Connections have booked 7lb claimer Jay Tidball for the ride and I expect him to be involved in the finish.

Railway Muice - 0.5pts e/w @ 5/1

15:05 Galway

The Gordon Elliott trained Battleoverdoyen (best priced at 7/4) won this race last season having been beaten 55 lengths in the Galway Plate and he bids to repeat that victory following the same prep run this year. The nine-year-old ran a lot better on Wednesday this year when only beaten 10 lengths in fifth by Hewick and that should put him spot on for this.

Battleoverdoyen defeated former stablemate Ben Dundee by ½ length in this race last year and he is clear on weight adjusted ratings once again with his closest rival on ratings being Doctor Duffy who is rated 6lbs lower but who will be racing off level weights. Davy Russell maintains the partnership and I expect the pair to prove hard to beat.

Battleoverdoyen - 1pt @ 7/4
