The Jessie Harrington trained Dubawi Spectre (best priced at 4/1) faces some well bred newcomers in this race such as Denmark, View Taken and Warrior Lion but he sets the standard on his two runs so far and can hopefully get off the mark at the third attempt. The Dubawi colt finished 4th only beaten four lengths on his debut at the Curragh before finishing 5th only beaten 4 ½ lengths behind Auguste Rodin at Naas a month ago.

Both of those runs were over 7f and he shaped on his running style and breeding that this step up to a mile should suit and I expect him to run well with first time cheekpieces also added.

Glasses Up (best priced at 7/2) has been running consistently well at Ayr on his previous four starts that he deserves to get his head in front in this race. The seven-year-old gelding is six time course and distance winner in his career with another close 2nd coming last month when fitted with first time cheekpieces.

Glasses Up was only beaten a neck in first time headgear that day off a mark of 78 before finishing 3rd only beaten 1 ¾ lengths over this course and distance a week ago. He runs here off the same mark and I think he will prove hard to beat from the front.

I very rarely have selections in classified stakes races but the connections of Retirement Beckons (best priced at 15/8) look to have found him a golden opportunity to record a fifth career victory. The Linda Perratt trained seven-year-old faces six rivals in this race who are yet to win a race in 56 combined and at least the gelding arrives into this race in good form.

Retirement Beckons finished a close 2nd over this course and distance last month before winning at Hamilton under Harry Russell in a handicap off a mark of 46. He was only beaten 1 ¾ lengths in a handicap over this course and distance a week ago off a mark of 50 and he should now prove hard to beat in this weak classified stakes race.
