Preference, though, is for the newcomer FONISKA who represents a yard in great form and also holds a Group 1 entry in next month's Moyglare. Her dam was a Group 2 winner for the same connections and the Galileo filly was due to run two months ago only to be ruled out with a respiratory infection. Gan Teorainn is another with some fancy entries and ran well against colts when second at Down Royal. This extra furlong should suit her. Perseids was runner-up in a 6f barrier trial last month.

DUBAWI SPECTRE has been beaten around four lengths on both starts and was keeping on well when fifth over 7f here last month. He's now fitted with headgear and should be suited by stepping up in trip. Nation's Call ran around when asked for his effort at the Curragh before finishing sixth. On a line through the third, he's closely matched with the selection and should be more streetwise this time. Aidan O'Brien had lots of entries for this and relies on the tongue-tied Denmark who cost 440,000 guineas as a yearling and is a three-parts brother to a Listed-winning stayer in France. View Taken is a half-brother to his trainer's smart performer Straight Answer who won his first two starts as a juvenile last year including a 6f Listed contest at Fairyhouse.

PROFITABLE EDGE was fourth to subsequent Listed and Group 3 winner Lezoo at Bath in June and might be on a fair mark. She was previously placed in a maiden over this trip at Cork and ran reasonably well on easy ground at Tipperary the time before. Her sire loved soft ground so she should handle conditions. Holdonfordearlife was strongly fancied for a similar contest at the Curragh but lost all chance when veering left at the business end. You would have to respect the market support for him last time and blinkers might straighten him out. Dontspoilasale has been running well in 6f maidens and was beaten less than two lengths at Fairyhouse. His trainer has had an excellent season. Laranjal contested some hot maidens early on in the campaign and returns from a break. She's another to get first-time blinkers for this handicap debut.

Although stall one might not be the best place to be with the ground on the easy side, it's still hard to overlook the claims of ROUSING ENCORE given how well his Royal Ascot form is working out. A winner of his previous two starts, the Acclamation colt made the running in the Coventry Stakes before finishing sixth, beaten five lengths in total. The second, third and fourth have all won at Group 2 level since. It may not have been the strongest maiden that Apricot Twist won impressively over C&D last month and she has a fairly quick turnaround as well. This race will tell us more about how far up the ranks she can go. The likes of Badb, Slan Abhaile and Matilda Picotte all have solid pattern form to their names and merit respect. It's interesting that Shane Foley rides early season maiden winner Ocean Quest ahead of 95-rated stablemate It's Showtime Baby and she is another in the mix.

AFFABLE won three times last season including a C&D success and has run well in defeat a few times this term. She was third to Pretty Rebel here last month and might be able to turn around the form with an 8lb pull in the weights. Pretty Rebel was a convincing winner but has a hefty weight to shoulder on this occasion. Sister Lola split Pretty Rebel and the selection but was well held at Fairyhouse last time and the fourth home, My Eyes Adore You, could throw down a stronger challenge. Fozzy Stack's filly won a maiden on easy ground at the Curragh and didn't have the clearest of runs when not beaten far on that latest visit to this venue. Goodnight Girl's fifth in a premier handicap at the Curragh is a strong formline but the cut in the ground is a concern for her.

SHOWMOLINA made the breakthrough over C&D last month after being an eyecatcher several times over the last twelve months. He again ran well to make the frame in a big-field handicap at Cork and seems to be breaking much better from stalls which had been a problem for him in the past. His rider may have to navigate his way across the track from stall one depending on how soft the ground turns out to be. We're On The Way, placed at Navan in April and fifth to the selection here last time, is drawn on the stands' side which could be a big plus and he's now fitted with a tongue-tie. Florence Thompson is a bit of a 'cliff' horse in that she travels well but finds little off the bridle. She has lots of good placed efforts to her name and was in front of the selection when runner-up at Cork. A winner at this meeting three years ago, Coffeemeanscoffee ran well to be third in that Cork contest and is another to consider.

LOINGSEOIR flew home to be third at Galway last week and makes a quick reappearance off a 3lb higher mark. Going an extra furlong will definitely suit, as will the ground, and he can gain a fifth career success. Juyush has good claims on recent placed efforts at Leopardstown and over C&D but easy ground is a worry for his prospects. Giuseppe Cassioli, just behind Juyush when third here in June and again placed at Killarney last time, has Billy Lee's assistance but is another who would probably prefer a sounder surface. Monzoon has been runner-up twice this term and should go well if it doesn't get too soft while Jason The Militant, who won a Listed race here over 1m4f on heavy ground last year, has an enormous weight on his back over a trip that looks too sharp.
