Minhaaj and Porfin are the ones expected to put up most resistance.

Although WHISTLE AND FLUTE failed to fire at Newbury last time out, the son of Dandy Man has shown plenty of promise and gets the nod to defy a penalty in this contest. Betweenthesticks has been knocking on the door this term and merits consideration stepping back in trip. George Boughey boasts an impressive strike-rate (35%) at this venue and Outland Mission is likely to be in the mix on his racecourse bow.

PINK CRYSTAL dismissed her rivals in convincing style at Thirsk on her latest outing and the William Haggas-trained filly gets the nod to follow up today. The progressive daughter of Shamardal displayed a good turn of foot to put the race to bed on that occasion and she can continue her ascendancy. Michaels Choice rates the most immediate danger after landing the spoils at Salisbury last time out, while Recon Mission and Impeach are both capable of a decent showing based on their recent meeting at Sandown.

Trainer Mick Channon won this last season and will be looking for a repeat with Epsom winner Whistledown, who should have no issues with the track. She does have a 6lb penalty to carry here for that neck success, though, and preference is for SHALFA. Beaten less than a length at Yarmouth in first-time blinkers, the daughter of Ribchester raced a bit too freely before tiring late on, but will hopefully settle better now. Doolily is dropping down the handicap and could go well if able to repeat her all-weather form.

HIDDEN PEARL could have the edge. She strolled home over 1m6f at Bath and an added 4lb from the handicapper may not be enough to stop her following up. John Berry has his mare in really good form at the moment and she can get the better of Henley Park, who struggled at Lingfield last time out but was a determined winner there the time before. Hold The Press is also noted.

A small field may be ideal for UNSUNG HERO who seems the likeliest to set his own pace from the off which may well give him the advantage. Third last time out when running on over a furlong shorter, that was his first run since April and any improvement off the same mark could make him tough to beat. Loquace might be the one to follow him home as he looks for a first career win, while Somedayonedaynever might be able to get involved if building on her second-placed effort at the track on Wednesday.

A drop in class could help the veteran in the field, 11-year-old Shamshon, get closer into contention, but HOT HOT HOT gets the vote on her return to handicap company. She was successful on her penultimate outing, also at this track, and the fact she is only 3lb higher in the handicap for that success does not rule her out of getting her head back in front. Mr Pc is another who merits consideration.
