New Definition seems a big threat having recorded a good fourth in Listed company behind Chateau, while Wen Moon also has a chance.

Having only finished a neck behind the winner on his most recent outing over this trip, HAPPY seeks to go one better stepping back up in class. He is a consistent sort and a 1lb rise for his latest run seems about right. The class-dropping Dark Jedi seems an obvious threat, but he remains 3lb higher than his last winning mark, while Excelcius merits consideration on his stable debut for Iain Jardine.

Birkenhead was a game winner of the ''Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe'' at York last month, when it paid to be drawn low (berthed in six). A 4lb rise for that success ought to be manageable, but preference is for EEH BAH GUM, who wasn't as well positioned in the same race. Kevin Ryan's seven-year-old finds himself 3lb better off with the former after taking jockeys' claims are taken into account and, having won over C&D previously, he could reverse the form. Global Humor filled the runner-up spot at this venue last Friday and looks best of the remainder.

RAMON DI LORIA ran well to finish third over 6f in a 0-85 contest at Hamilton last month after losing a shoe. Ewan Whillans' charge should appreciate the return to 7f, having won over C&D on his penultimate outing, while the drop in class could also aid his return to the winner's enclosure. Recent Catterick scorer Abduction looks set for another bold bid despite a 4lb rise in the ratings, along with Merricourt and Brazen Bolt, who renew their rivalry following their meeting at Ayr last month.

Although DOOMSDAY failed to follow up at Leicester last month he was arguably an unlucky loser having been hampered by the winner in the final furlong and compensation may await the Bryan Smart-trained gelding here. Monhammer has yet to get off the mark but was a respectable third at Ayr last month and this slightly sharper track may suit.

Although WELL PLANTED has been raised 1lb for his second at Ayr last month he still appears to be off a competitive mark. The dual-purpose performer was having his first start on the Flat for 10 months on that occasion and given a more positive ride here, he looks sure to be in the mix. Keith Dalgleish replaces the visor with first-time cheekpieces on Red Bond and, if having the desired effect, he could go close. Smart Lass is a four-time C&D winner and, although she's having her first run of the campaign, any market confidence behind her should be noted.
