This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but preference goes to the John Ryan trained Sicilian Vito (best priced at 9/1) who has shown some good form at this track so far in his career. The son of Night Of Thunder finished 3rd twice in novice races at the course earlier this season before finishing 3rd in a handicap on his penultimate start off a mark of 65. The gelding was only beaten 1 ¼ lengths that day over this course and distance in a first time visor and connections now decide to switch headgear to cheekpieces today.

The handicapper has dropped Sicilian Vito 1lb for his latest 3rd placed effort at Lingfield which seems generous as he was only beaten 2 ½ lengths and I think he can run well from the front again from Stall 1 with Luke Morris taking over from Darragh Keenan.

Sicilian Vito - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/1

The Kim Bailey trained Blazon (best priced at 6/1) needs to bounce back from a couple of disappointing recent efforts but his proven form over this course and distance makes him worth taking a chance on off this mark. The nine-year-old is a four-time course and distance winner in his career off marks of 60, 66, 66 and 60 so he looks competitively handicapped off a mark of 64 in this race.

Blazon ran well on his reappearance run at Southwell when only beaten 3 ½ lengths in a 0-70 handicap off a mark of 69 so he looks well handicapped off a mark of 64 in a 0-65 handicap only four starts later. With up to four places available and questions marks about the track and distance for many of his rivals, he looks a solid each way option in this race.

Blazon - 0.5pts e/w @ 6/1

This looks a weak 0-55 handicap where Darcy’s Rock (best priced at 9/4) should be able to follow up her recent Chepstow success if coping with this switch to the AW. The three-year-old filly faces rivals who only have one victory from 66 runs put together and who all face questions marks coming into this race.

Darcy’s Rock comes here having finished 2nd at Chepstow over 6f on her penultimate start before winning well over 7f at the same venue by 2 ¼ lengths. The handicapper has raised her 7lb for that success which is fair and I expect her to prove hard to beat if she can replicate that form switching to the AW.

Darcy's Rock - 1pt @ 9/4
