UK Horse Racing Tips: Gowran Park

ZANIYKA looks to have found a good opportunity to open her account although the Weld yard is still to strike any sort of form this season. There were some hints of progress for the Rosewell House team at Galway with an impressive winner and a list of placed horses. Zaniyka is fitted with blinkers after a two-month break and a reproduction of either of her latest two efforts may be good enough here. There is little to choose between Livia Celeste, Believeinmiracles and Esculenta on running behind Benitoite in a Curragh mile maiden last month. Oh So Lovely, a Galileo half-sister to Coral-Eclipse winner Mukhadram, filled the runner-up spot behind the long odds-on Point Gellibrand on her turf debut at Leopardstown and could well progress with racing. Any market move for Redressed, by Le Harve and from the family of Midday, would be significant.

OUT ON FRIDAY gained both previous wins over an extended mile at Galway in 2020 which put him on a career high mark of 75 at the start of last season. The selection, who likes to be up with the pace, steadily dropped down the ratings before running a cracker under a very aggressive ride at Leopardstown last week. He was still well clear a furlong out before pegged back close home by Focus Required and is officially 3lb well-in compared with future handicaps. Draco Pulchrac is not the most consistent of performers but has shown definite promise on varying ground conditions including when runner-up to Darkened over this trip at Tipperary. The Lee Smyth-trained pair Spirituoso and Lily Of The Glen both ran well over C&D last time, although the latter now races off a 7lb higher mark. Barretstown and Complete Fiction are others for the shortlist.

LYRICAL POETRY landed a maiden in great style over this C&D in the spring and has shaped with plenty of credit when upped considerably in class on both outings since. The Johnny Murtagh-trained filly beat all bar Hannibal Barca in the Gallinule Stakes and was far from disgraced when tackling Group 1 company last time in the Pretty Polly Stakes. Emphatic Answer would be a big threat if reproducing her neck second to Pearls Galore in the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes over a mile at the Curragh in May. She needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Fairyhouse last month. Didn'thavemuchtodo merits a crack at this grade following an impressive win at Killarney, and Shane Crosse rides her in preference to Neptune Rock who finished strongly when only going down by a length in a Listed race also at Killarney last month.

CLOUNMACON doesn't hold any notable entries, but still went into plenty of notebooks after her debut run at the Curragh. She stayed on really well over this trip to get to within a nose of the winner. The horse that beat her is aiming for black-type now. Saxon Warrior colt Victoria Road sets the standard with a mark of 101. He has a couple of runner-up berths banked in addition to a decent fourth in the valuable Ballyhane Stakes at Naas. He steps back up to 7f over which he was beaten almost eight lengths on debut at Roscommon, but that may have been more to do with the testing ground. He has a host of big-race entries. Joseph O'Brien runs two and his Chiketto, who was third in a barrier trial, holds a Group 1 National Stakes entry so has to be respected on racecourse debut. Barrier-trial winner Remind was third in a warm race at Galway and is a threat. She has a Group 2 option.

MASSAMAN has had some year to date with three victories clocked in addition to placed efforts in the Cork Derby and at Leopardstown. He is proven over further and will be coming home up the hill stronger than most. Andreas Vesalius is interesting up in trip. His sire has a decent record with progeny over seven furlongs plus and this three-year-old gelding has shaped as though there is a good race in him in a runner-up finish at Naas this summer. Pearle D'or is unexposed as this is his handicap debut on his third start. There is more to come from this Naas maiden winner. Stall one is a bonus for prominent racer Lord Dudley. He has been keeping good company and won over this trip at Cork in May. Hale Bopp is another to consider.

AIRGEAD has dropped down the weights to an appealing mark. He ran on well to be nearest at the finish in fifth over this trip at Fairyhouse last month. That was the first time he had raced off a mark as low as 49. He was won twice in his career over 7f and has each-way claims. Praying Mantis has switched to Ado McGuinness after landing a selling handicap at Thirsk. When she was formerly trained in Ireland, she won over 1m at this track so has to be respected. Barnhill Rose made the breakthrough over 1m at Naas last month and was beaten a couple of short heads in her bid to defy the 7lb penalty three days later at this venue. She enters calculations albeit the draw has been less than kind. Dutch Schaefer came out on the right side of a bunch finish in Roscommon, however, that came on testing ground as did his other two successes. Recent C&D winner, first-reserve Helmet Star, would be dangerous if getting a run.

MULLACASH BUZZ was caught close home over C&D last month and has the opportunity to get compensation. He remains on the same mark, but jockey Jack Cleary can use his full 7lb claim in this race so, effectively, Mullacash Buzz is 3lb better off. Fastman showed more when third in the same grade at Leopardstown and is on a dangerous mark. He has come down a fair way from a rating of 70 in April. Zaur landed a gamble when keeping on best to beat Mullacash Buzz by half a length over C&D. That was the first time he had troubled the judge, but he could be involved again off 5lb higher. Cedar Rapids landed a Leopardstown claimer last week, but has to defy top weight of 10st 5lb.

INUIT has finished third in his last two starts in Listed company, so should enjoy dipping his toes into a handicap for the first time. He holds Group 3 entries and it may not be long before he is back up in grade. Safecracker has plenty to find on ratings, but finished eye-catchingly well to be a close second in a quality handicap over 1m2f in Leopardstown last week. The hood that was deployed then is retained. He has form over a similar trip to this. Malabu Drive was strong off the front over an extended 1m3f in Killarney. His trainer, Ger Lyons, won the McEnery Cup last year and this Frankel colt is a proper contender. McTigue is markedly up in trip and this is likely to be a stiff test with plenty of pace on, so he is swerved on this occasion.
