The rivals in front of him on that occasion boasted a decent level of form and he is likely to progress, along with Lahab, a stable companion of the selection who ran nicely here on his first start last month. Boxing Alex is an interesting newcomer.

She pulled too hard and failed to see out the six furlongs at Newmarket last time and a return to this trip will suit. Funny Story was an impressive winner on debut last month and looks open to any amount of improvement, while Katey Kontent lost her unbeaten record in the Queen Mary but is worth another chance.

Although MISS ATTITUDE has a 6lb penalty to deal with after her recent win at Sandown, the manner of her victory that day suggests she may well be up to the task. The Mick Channon-trained filly showed considerable improvement on that occasion and it would be no surprise to see her back that up here. Felix Natalis got off the mark here last month and this drop back in trip shouldn't be an inconvenience. Espirito is still a maiden after five runs but has already shown enough to suggest he can win in this sort of company.

PERSIAN ROYAL comes into this chasing a hat-trick after wins at Doncaster and Sandown. The Harry and Roger Charlton-trained three-year-old has been raised 1lb for his latest effort and another bold bid is forecast. Ascending hasn't been seen since winning nicely at Goodwood in June on soft ground. He has been given a 4lb rise for that win, which looks workable, but the forecast fast ground tempers enthusiasm. King Lewlew has been given an opening mark of 77 for his handicap debut and any market support for him should be noted.

TELE RED opened his account at the 14th time of asking at Pontefract last Wednesday following a string of solid efforts in defeat. Karl Burke's charge must carry a 5lb penalty for that success, but a similar performance ought to make him tough to beat. Recent Newcastle scorer Hot Team looks likely to thrown down a stern challenge, while Monet's Sunrise drops in class and can't be ruled out either.
