UK Horse Racing Tips: Tramore

OLD BILL BARLEY should progress with racing. He won his bumper on debut at Kilbeggan in April and has been placed in a Listowel bumper and a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle. He was collared before the last flight in Kilbeggan after hanging left throughout. He wouldn't want to be doing the same here. No headgear is applied, so hopefully that tendency is ironed out on his fourth start. Dixie Flyer has a rating of 111, but hasn't been at his best in two outings this summer. He still looks one of the more likely contenders in this field. More To Follow is related to a horse who won eight times over hurdles in Britain, so is worth a market check ahead of his first start. There is surely more to come from Innellan Shore.

KINNEGAD LAD might be the answer to a race where form is thin on the ground. Gordon Elliott's charge has to defy top weight of 12 stone, but that is possible on this drop in trip. His headway petered out before the second-last in a better grade of race over 2m6f in Limerick as he came in mid-division. He won his bumper over this trip in Musselburgh when formerly trained by Stuart Crawford. Pak Army has a couple of fourth places in handicap hurdles at this track to his name. He should be sharper after a comeback run on the Flat at Ballinrobe last month. Jazz Ranger has a C&D victory to his name, so could bounce back to form here. Bite That has a shot at prize money.

Point-to-point winner THE GREY MONTY has run a couple of solid races in similar contests and may be worth siding with here. She was third over 3m at Wexford and stayed on well when filling the same spot over 2m 2f at Sligo, so this intermediate trip may suit. Walk On The Moone, related to some very smart jumpers, has been odds-on for all three starts and made a winning debut in a bumper at Kilbeggan. There was little wrong with her first try over hurdles at Limerick when not beaten far by a subsequent winner but she bombed out completely last time which has to be a concern. There was money for Hand Over Fist on debut but he never landed a blow at Kilbeggan. He's surely better than that and might have a place chance in a race lacking depth.

THE DECLAIMER likes good ground and could go well in his first handicap over fences. He landed a handicap hurdle off a similar mark at Thurles in November and the next four home have all been successful subsequently. Following a winter break, he hasn't shown much in a couple of spins in beginners' chases but is likely to be a different proposition in a handicap. Mater Matuta likes it around Tramore and followed up her C&D success in June by making the frame back here last month. She should go well again. Berliet Express has been running well over hurdles and fences this summer and wasn't beaten far when fourth in a similar contest at Wexford last week. Red Striker and Golden Sandbanks both come straight into a handicap for their chase debuts and can race off their hurdle marks after landing handicaps in that discipline last time out.

HOLLYMOUNT is bred to do well over fences and has been in good form over hurdles this summer. The daughter of Jet Away followed up her maiden win at Ballinrobe with a facile success at Ayr and bumped into a useful opponent when runner-up at Killarney. Her half-brothers Ravenhill Road and Windsor Avenue are very useful handicap chasers across the water. She always wore a hood over the smaller obstacles but that is left off now. Sit Down Lucy was one of Peter Fahey's four winners at the Galway festival where she landed a valuable handicap hurdle in good style. She steps back up in trip for this chasing bow. Raven Rule, who ran well on the Flat here on Thursday, is another stepping up in distance. She's had plenty of issues with her jumping but was running a good race when departing at the second-last at this venue in June. Influential Lady has a nice bit of chasing experience to draw upon while point-to-point winner Inclusion is one to keep an eye on as she starts off here for Willie Mullins.

Former course and distance winner PAT COYNE may prove the pick here after a couple of decent runs this summer. The grey won a beginners chase at the August meeting last year and has been fairly consistent since. He did well to be runner-up at Downpatrick on his last outing over fences, when badly hampered early on, and looks better over the larger obstacles. A few of these have winning form at the track and Groveman, who won on the Flat here last year, looks a danger after a decent run to finish third over fences on his last outing at Limerick. Quirt Evans is a dual course winner and is interesting on his first outing in handicap company over fences. He has a 10lb lower mark over fences compared to his hurdles rating.

KATIE TAY is an interesting one on her first outing for Willie Mullins. The Presenting filly shaped with promise on two outings in the spring, most recently when mid-division in a Punchestown bumper. She came from the rear that day and was wide into the straight as well. On her debut she wasn't beaten far in fourth in a Naas bumper and is probably facing slightly weaker opposition at this time of year. Kilbarry Lilac was beaten a neck on her debut here last year and wasn't disgraced in testing conditions on her return at Wexford early last month. She could be a danger now, while Champagnesocialist also merits consideration.
