JUST HISS represents a yard going great guns this year and recent form suggests he's capable of winning a race of this nature. He won one of these amateur jockeys' handicaps at Newcastle under Thomas Easterby in June and has held his form well under that rider in two subsequent starts. He looks the one to be on, but watch out for the two last-start scorers in the field, Irv and Point Of Honour, who both remain feasibly treated.
Prediction : 1st Just Hiss 2nd Irv 3rd Point Of Honour

TALAMANCA got off the mark on his third nursery start in emphatic fashion at Windsor last week. It is unlikely an extra 6lb would have stopped him that day so he is taken to go very close again under a penalty. Man Made Of Smoke is edging closer to the winner's enclosure and was only narrowly denied on his nursery bow at Leicester. He represents an in-form yard and joins Tanzanite on the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Talamanca 2nd Man Made Of Smoke 3rd Tanzanite

QUERCUS is 2-7 over C&D and recent form suggests another win could be right around the corner. He has rattled the crossbar the last twice and is 1lb better off with Rain Cap for a head defeat last time. It is likely this better ground will suit the selection in his bid to reverse the form, while Where's Diana would have sound claims if forgiven her latest outing at Beverley.
Prediction : 1st Quercus 2nd Rain Cap 3rd Wheres Diana

KEY LOOK may be winless since last October but his most recent second at Doncaster hinted that may about to change. A four-time scorer last year, Geoffrey Harker's mare hasn't quite hit those heights this season, but is now 2lb below her previous winning mark and could be ready to strike. Victorious at Ayr last time out, Far From A Ruby should have no issues going back in trip and she can give the selection most to think about along with Clotherholme. Audit and Magical Effect can also have a say in proceedings.
Prediction : 1st Key Look 2nd Far From A Ruby 3rd Clotherholme

A determined winner at Beverley last time out and placed over C&D in June, STONEY LANE looks the one to be with Ben Curtis taking over in the saddle. Hilary's Boy has been in fine form of late as well and is likely to enter the reckoning along with Safran, who went close latest but has a long losing streak to overcome. Completing the shortlist are the likes of Burtonwood, Final Frontier and Tacitus.
Prediction : 1st Stoney Lane 2nd Hilarys Boy 3rd Safran

A few promising types here, but it's hard to get away from REMEMBERING based on what she achieved on her first two starts earlier this year. She was third behind Emily Upjohn on debut at Sandown before following that up with a good second at Redcar and if she's ready to go after a break, William Haggas' daughter of Frankel could take all the beating. Firebolt made a pleasing start when third at Ripon in May and should be on the premises, while Menelaus could appreciate this longer trip and may get involved
Prediction : 1st Remembering 2nd Firebolt 3rd Menelaus

DREAM DEAL was a good second at Ripon on his handicap debut a fortnight ago and if as effective on the forecast quicker ground, a 3lb rise might not be enough to prevent another bold showing. Red Allure won well at Carlisle last time and she looks sure to go well again off a 5lb higher mark, while Golden Gal is another who was victorious last time when narrowly scoring at Catterick on soft ground but it remains to be seen whether she'll be as good under these conditions.
Prediction : 1st Dream Deal 2nd Red Allure 3rd Golden Gal
