Juddmonte International

Baaeed

Unsurprisingly, the brilliant Baaeed is the most backed horse through oddschecker this month for the York Ebor Festival 2022. At the time of writing, he has taken more than 50% of the bets on the Juddmonte International Stakes (54.4%) and held strong in the market at a best price of 4/9.

As part of our Ante-Post preview for the race two weeks ago, Andy Holding said: “Having run out of viable opponents over a mile, it looks very much like Baaeed will head to the Knavesmire to seek fresh competition over further.

“Being by Sea The Stars - who landed the York feature in 2009 - and a half-brother to Coronation Cup winner Hukum, you'd like to think William Haggas' colt will stay the trip well, and if that does prove to be the case, it will open up a whole host of new options further down the line.”

Nunthorpe Stakes

Royal Aclaim

Meanwhile, as part of his Nunthorpe Stakes preview last week, Holding discussed the chances of our second most backed horse for the four-day meeting.

He said: “Royal Aclaim is the current market leader following her impressive win over the C&D last month. While she probably has plenty more to offer, whether she deserves to be quite so short on account of beating exposed sorts such as Mondammej, Korker and Justanotherbottle is a moot point.”

“At least with James Tate's filly you know you are on a definite runner barring accidents, whereas the same can't be said for the likes of Dramatised, Little Big Bear, Highfield Princess and Persian Force who are all heading in different directions according to their respective connections.”

In the last week, Royal Aclaim has come in from 9/4 to a best price 6/4 for Friday’s Nunthorpe Stakes, having taken 41.73% of the bets on the race through oddschecker.

Yorkshire Oaks

Alpinista

And finally, the third most backed horse for this week at York and the final leg of our 10/1 treble is Yorkshire Oaks favourite Alpinista. You’d have to go back more than three weeks to find longer odds than 3/1 on the Thursday feature race’s big favourite (now a best price 2/1).

Since the start of the month, Alpinista has taken fewer total bets than both Baaeed and Royal Aclaim but a huge share of 48.70% of those on the Yorkshire Oaks. La Petite Coco, a best price 6/1 shot just outside the top favourite, is a distant second for bets through oddschecker with 13.04%.
