With Richard Hannon having won 4 of the last 6 renewals everything points towards SHOULDVEBEENARING running a big race. This Havana Grey colt was slowly into stride on debut and looked to be going nowhere halfway but the penny dropped late and he stayed on strongly in the closing stages. That experience certainly wasn’t lost on him as he improved again to win readily at Ripon back in May. He has been put away since and likely targeted for this race and the vibes from the yard are notably strong. He is 9/2 at the time of writing but it really wouldn’t surprise me to see a big gamble materialise here. If you’re looking for an each way angle into this race then Metahorse might be worth covering. Rossa Ryan was keen on him at Thirsk last time and he certainly delivered. Gulmarg who was last of the 3 won next time out too which gives the form some substance.
