UK Horse Racing Tips: Killarney

CHARLIE LUCIANO ran well on his second outing over timber at Ballinrobe and can go one better now. The Noel Meade-trained gelding was prominent for much of the race then before giving way on the run-in to Surac. He had unseated early enough on his hurdling debut and his experience will stand him in good stead now. Chargo has also had a couple of runs over hurdles, finishing placed on his first run before falling when still in the lead here last month. He looked under pressure last time but it was still likely to be a solid effort, if he had stood up, and he has to be a big player again here. Aghaboy obviously commands respect on his first outing for Willie Mullins. The German-bred showed ability on the Flat for Kevin Prendergast and was runner-up in a Roscommon handicap on his penultimate outing.

PURPLE MOUNTAIN ran well on her return from an absence at Galway and may be able to step forward now. The Beat Hollow mare was making just her second outing in handicap company over hurdles then and there looks scope for further improvement. She won a bumper around here and course form is always a plus. The selection is now 5lb better off with Galway winner Outback Flyer and is fancied to turn the tables with the run under her belt. Galway Hurdle winner Tudor City obviously commands respect. He got a 7lb rise for his hard fought win at Ballybrit though and that makes life a bit tougher now.

REXEM is a nice sort and is fancied to follow up on his facile maiden hurdle win at Downpatrick 12 days ago. The Leading Light gelding had run a nice race in a decent contest on softer ground at Galway prior to that and seems better suited by nicer going. Level Neverending has the same official rating of 119 but was a touch disappointing at Kilbeggan last time and hasn't looked the most straight-forward. Dragon Rock is still unexposed. He stayed on well to score at Tramore on his 'track' debut and looks like he will be well suited by a stiff test of stamina.

JON SNOW won the preceding race on this card last season in facile fashion and can get off the mark over fences now. The French-bred gelding shaped with plenty of promise when third to Enniskerry in a strong contest at Galway on his chase debut and is entitled to come forward from that run. It's interesting that Willie Mullins sends him right up in trip now to two-miles-seven. Alfa Mix looks an obvious danger after a big run to finish second at Galway behind a stablemate of the selection, Rambranlt'jac. He had Oscar Academy and Fakiera in behind in third and fourth that day and may be able to confirm that form now.

ARVERNE bounced back to winning ways at Kilbeggan last month and may be able to strike again after that confidence boosting win. The French-bred gelding had dropped a long way in the handicap before his win last time and won with a bit in hand after making the running. He stays further, so going back up in trip isn't a concern, and there may be another race in him at this level. Gelee Blanche improved in the jumping department with racing last season and was a winner at Downpatrick when last seen in October. She has to be respected on her return to action off an attractive mark. Rule Of June won last week at Tramore and off a 7lb higher mark is another that has to come into calculations.

SMITTY BACALL ran a big race at Tramore the other day and may be able to land a moderate enough looking contest. He came to lead going to the second last then but was just outstayed at the business end. Off the same mark and back slightly in trip he looks to have a big shout. Mica Malpic has been let down by his jumping on his two most recent starts but is capable of a big run off his current mark. Dropping back in trip would be a slight concern though. Union Park has been running consistently and looks like place material.

Conor Brassil takes 5lb off the back of CORNERKOVA and she can land a hat-trick over fences now. The Sholokhov mare stepped forward considerably on her second outing over fences when running out a good winner at Clonmel back in June. She was good over the minimum trip then but stayed well to score at Tipperary last month, over almost two-and-a-half, and was just getting on top when left well clear at the last by the fall of Fest Deiz. That was a good performance as the front two had pulled well clear in the straight and she looks a much better chaser than hurdler. Henry de Bromhead has two others in the race and Eagle Moon also commands respect after a couple of solid places efforts. Dads Lad also comes here in fine form after his win on the Flat at Galway having opened his chase account at Limerick previously. He looks on a fair enough mark for his first start in handicap company over fences.

POLO LOUNGE was a touch disappointing last time at Tramore but back on a flatter track here and with a tongue-tie fitted now he may be worth another shot. The Califet gelding had shaped with promise on his debut when chasing home Shanbally Kid at Clonmel back in April and on that showing he'd be the one to beat. Gordon Elliott saddles three and Wisteria Bloom is probably the main danger. She bumped into a smart looking sort when second to Hermine on her debut at Kilbeggan and is entitled to step forward with that experience under her belt. Battle Of Mirbat ran a big race at a massive price in Cork at the start of the month and if he can repeat that he'd be a big player.
