Earl Of Tyrone, marginal favourite (6/1) for the Ebor Handicap, is the most backed horse for Saturday at the Ebor Festival 2022 since final declarations for the day were made on Thursday morning.
The four-year-old, trained by Paddy Twomey, heads a maximum field of 22 for Saturday's £500,000 feature race. He has won his last three starts, including a Listed victory over subsequent Irish St Leger Trial winner Raise You last time out in the Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick.
Despite the field size, Earl Of Tyrone has so far featured in just over 17% of the betslips for the Ebor Handicap and 6.78% of bets across the day’s full card.
City Of York Stakes
Sacred
Sacred (4/1 best price) is the second most backed horse for the final day at the Ebor Festival 2022, despite lining up against three horses that defeated him in his last outing at Goodwood (Lennox Stakes) just over three weeks ago.
The four-year-old, trained by William Haggas, has so far taken 30.23% of the bets on Saturday's Group 2 City Of York Stakes, while Lennox Stakes winner Sandrine (9/2) accounts for 11.63%. Second at Goodwood, Kinross, is 11/2 this weekend having found himself in 24.81% of the betslips.
Strensall Stakes
Mighty Ulysses
Rounding off our treble, but kicking off the day's action, is our third most backed horse in Mighty Ulysses - a short price (6/4) favourite for the Group 3 Strensall Stakes at 13:50.
Jockey Frankie Dettori has five winners and seven places from 16 outings in the race, which has been won by a four-year-old in five of the last six years - most recently by favourite Real World in 2021.
The likeliest threat for Mighty Ulysses is Alflaila (4/1) ridden by Jim Crowley, who landed the race on Mustashry in 2017. Mighty Ulysses has so far taken 49.28% of the bets on the Strensall Stakes, with Alflaila accounting for 23.19%.
