After picking up an 11/2 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
13:30 Catterick
The Charlie & Mark Johnston trained WHITCLIFFE (best priced at 4/1) is yet to win in 11 starts but I am hoping this consistent gelding can get off the mark in first time cheekpieces. The three-year-old has placed in five of those eleven starts including when 3rd on his latest two starts at Beverley. The grey finished only ½ length behind the winner on his penultimate starts over 1m4f before finishing 3rd over the same course and distance on his next when probably ridden to aggressively from the front.
Connections step Whitcliffe up in trip to 1m6f for the first time which is a positive and he should run well in first time cheekpieces off a 1lb lower mark.

This looks a weak 0-60 handicap so the obvious choice is the Karl Burke trained TANZANITE (best priced at 5/2) who can race here off the same mark as when a close second last time. The son of Camacho stepped forward from three low key runs in novice races to finish a close 2nd on his handicap debut last time here over 6f.
Tanzanite stayed on well that day over the 6f trip shaping like this step up to 7f would suit and he is drawn much better today in Stall 4 rather than Stall 11 last time. Pierre-Louis Jamin takes over from Sam Feilden in this race and I expect him to prove hard to beat.
15:10 Lingfield
There are lots with chances in this 0-75 handicap but preference goes to FORD MADOX BROWN (best priced at 7/1) who has been in consistently good form and is not fitted with first time cheekpieces. The Stuart Williams trained gelding has form figures of 03322 including over this course and distance last time.
Ford Madox Brown finished 2nd by a neck at Chelmsford last time off a mark of 70 before finishing ½ length 2nd over this course and distance last time off the same mark. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs for that effort which is fair and hopefully he can go one better in first time cheekpieces.
