GYTO's Friday Notebook Double pays 17/1.

I have been waiting for BIBULOUS to get softer ground as I think he could be a really well handicapped horse. He has been running well all season on a faster surface and again likely ran right up to form when second to the progressive Dora Penny at Ffos Las. That filly has since gone in again at Windsor to frank the form and off the same mark here I’m surprised he is as big as 7/2 in the betting at the time of writing. Oriental Spirit won at Kempton in June and wasn’t beaten far last time so must enter calculations. Port Noir continues to go close but she hasn’t won for a while so even on a workable mark I think the selection should have her covered. Secret Handsheikh won at Chepstow last week and the form has been boosted so back up to 6f it wouldn’t be surprising if he emerge as the main danger to the selection.

William Haggas continues to fire in the winners and is still operating at a 33% strike rate in the past fortnight. PRIDE OF PRIORY had no issue bringing up the hat-trick at Ascot last time beating another progressive horse in Charging Thunder. He is up another 6lb but you’d be foolish to rule out further improvement from this 4yo and I think he can go in again here. He will be ridden quietly again so will always need an element of luck coming through but he is a horse I want to keep on side. Forza Orta has won at this track and he clocked a career best winning at York last time. He is 4lb higher but another big run looks on the cards and I wouldn’t put you off a place bet saver as I think he’ll be bang there and he is around 9/1. Strawberri is the other one that catches the eye after winning at Kempton. She is unexposed so should be involved as well.
