Summerghand accounted for Tabdeed when scoring in this contest 12 months ago and his recent York victory suggests that another good run could be forthcoming. That said, preference is for GREAT AMBASSADOR, who was a Listed winner last season and he has only had three starts this year. The five-year-old has improved with each outing in 2022 and he caught the eye when finishing sixth from an unfavourable draw in the Stewards' Cup when last seen. Daneh was a useful two-year-old and has to be of some interest on her seasonal return.

SOAPY STEVENS was a disappointing favourite at York last time but his previous form means that the four-year-old can be given another chance today. He is only 4lb higher than when winning a valuable event over C&D in July and the son of Harzand was a close fourth to the subsequent Ebor winner Trawlerman at Goodwood later that month. Sam Cooke was not far behind the selection on his most recent outing and is an obvious threat, while Gold Maze and Nahanni are the pick of the remainder.

The winning machine that is SIMPLY SONDHEIM is declared to run here on Friday as well but, having run twice in the space of four days in June, there is every chance that he could take in both races. The step up in trip has the potential to bring about further improvement, and the best placed to chase him home could be Hexameter, who has improved steadily and ran well on his handicap debut at Kempton. Now that the penny has dropped for Sarsons Risk, he can also have a say. Pub Crawl isn't out of it either.

With plenty of early pace a given in this contest it could set it up for a closer in the shape of THE PRINCES POET, who returned to form with a decent placed effort behind Lipsink at Windsor. Harry Davies' 3lb claim could come in handy as he looks to fend off the likes of Kimngrace, who has had a fine season up to this point, and Dusky Prince, who never seems to run a bad race. Isle Of Lismore is another to note, especially on soft ground.
