This is a fiercely competitive race but saying that BRILLIANT LIGHT definitely looks the one to beat. This son of Sea The Stars finished fifth behind Anmaat in the John Smith’s Cup last month and backed that up with an excellent second to Forest Falcon at Goodwood last time. He just got short of room before running on well between horses but the winner had flown by then. His form all season has been very solid and racing off the same mark it is hard to find any chinks in his armour. Rogue Bear finished behind the selection at York last month and he was just too keen that day. If he settles better he might be the danger but I’m confident the selection can confirm that form. New Dimension blew the start at Chelmsford and is interesting now he has been gelded. Could obviously improve again so definitely feared too.

It has been some season for CAPTAIN KANE winning 6 times and he might not be done yet. I think it has been excellent placing from George Scott and again he finds himself in a very winnable race. I thought he did it with a bit up his sleeve at Yarmouth last time and running under a penalty here he might prove too strong again. He finds plenty off the bridle and is tactically versatile so with just 3 runners to beat he looks the one to side with. Golden Keeper has only run four times and made the breakthrough last time. He was always doing enough on that occasion but he definitely meets a tougher rival in the selection now and needs to prove he can back that up. The other pair look up against it but Cappoquin could still have a bit of potential but she did fade alarmingly last time so definitely needs to bounce back from that.
