The son of Cracksman should have no issue with the prevailing ground conditions and his experience can tell against well-bred newcomer Sea Eagle, who must be respected for the in-form William Haggas team. Fellow debutant Aussi Mandate can also have a say along with stablemate Night Life.

Atalanta's Boy is looking for a hat-trick in this race so has to be taken seriously and having been successful on heavy going, the softer conditions may not be an issue. However, he has not been at his best so far this season and preference is for FIVETHOUSANDTOONE, who finished fourth over further at Newbury latest and should be far better suited by the return to this trip off 2lb lower. Course-and-distance winner Many A Star needs a career-best effort, but is another to consider if he can find any further improvement.

In a fairly open seller, preference is for BORNTOBEALEADER. He was well beaten on his most recent outing at Newbury over 1m 5f, but a drop in trip could see him get further into contention in this. He has been gelded since his latest run, which may also help him settle, and it is likely he will have a say in proceedings. Bazalgette was two lengths behind the winner over 1m on his latest outing and can be feared, while Just A Tad completes the shortlist.

Falling Shadow excelled behind a fellow improver at Newmarket last time and will take some stopping if acting on the most testing ground he has hitherto encountered. For all that, there is enough of a doubt to take him on with proven easy ground performer PARADIAS, who showed a clear aptitude for this track when just edged out by a highly-progressive sort last month. Al Mubhir is also worth a second look over a new trip on his handicap bow.

DOUBLE OR BUBBLE has been beaten just over three lengths on her last two starts both in Group 1 company and Chris Wall's mare is taken to get back to winning ways down in grade. The Andrew Balding-trained Happy Power bounced back to form when fourth behind Sandrine in the Lennox here last month and a repeat performance could see him go close. Any cut in the ground looks sure to suit Ever Given and he is capable of being in the mix.

SPEAK produced another creditable display at Chester last month when filling the runner-up spot. The form has been franked, with the third-placed horse winning a competitive instalment of the Racing League on Thursday, and, in a contest where tactics are likely to come to the fore, she can land the spoils. Peripatetic drops in class following a good second at Salisbury and she must hold every chance, while Suzy's Shoes, who bolted up in a maiden at Newbury, is far from out of this either.

LUNA MAGIC has been in fine fettle of late having been successful on back-to-back starts, with the latest of those coming at Salisbury earlier this month. Archie Watson's charge won this contest last year off a 6lb higher mark and she should have every chance of completing her hat-trick. Another former race winner from 2020 heads to post in the shape of The Game Is On, who starts out for a new stable and he is another weighted to go well. Silastar heads the remainder.
