Most of these have questions to answer, but less so BRILLIANT LIGHT, who appeared to run better than ever when second in a tough Glorious Goodwood handicap last month, giving the impression he might even have won had he not been trapped behind a wall of horses at a crucial stage. His formerly progressive stablemate Marching Army gets a first-time visor after a disappointing reappearance and may prove most troublesome, though the unexposed New Dimension could do better now he's been gelded.

Not the strongest of juvenile events and it could pay to give another chance to KING OF ITHACA, who was the subject of sustained market support ahead of his debut at Kempton two months ago, only to run too green to do himself justice and eventually finish fifth. Playupskyblues showed enough first time out in a much stronger event at Goodwood to enter the reckoning, while any market support for George Scott's newcomer Perfect Gentleman would be noteworthy with the yard enjoying a good summer and Benoit De La Sayette looking an interesting booking.

The eye is drawn to the George Boughey-trained MANUHA, who has been given a mark of 67 for his first run in handicap company. The son of U S Navy Flag has been exclusively campaigned over six furlong so far and has shaped like this extra distance can bring out further improvement. Queen's Eyot wasn't beaten far when fourth at Kempton last time and it's interesting that Ed Dunlop applies cheekpieces for the first time. Duchray looks a solid yardstick and he enters calculations now having his first try at this distance,

Previous course winner CUBANISTA was too keen when narrowly denied behind Yoshimi at Leicester earlier in the month and, if settling better over this extra furlong, he may prove a hard nut to crack. Miss Candy got off the mark here over seven furlongs last month and although she's been raised 3lb for that victory, she remains one to consider and 3lb claimer Paddy Bradley retains the ride. The Tom Clover-trained Gold Splash is having his first run in handicap company and any market support for him would be significant.

William Knight and Marco Ghiani teamed up to win this race last year and they may well repeat that feat this time around with LELABAD. Although the three-year-old gelding has been a beaten favourite on his last two starts, he races off a 1lb lower mark today and the first-time visor may well eke out some improvement. Rose's Girl was denied by the narrowest of margins at Brighton last week and she could go close off the same mark. Priscilla's Wish is chasing a three-timer having won her last two over C&D, but an 8lb rise for her last win tempers enthusiasm.

Intervention kept on well to win on his most recent run on the all-weather earlier this month and he would be a big player if transferring that form back onto turf. However, BEAUTY CHOICE finished a good second on his latest outing in a competitive handicap at Newmarket and the fact he retains the same mark today must be noted given he is dropping in class. Triggered was just denied victory at Nottingham on his last run and completes the shortlist.
