I’ve had my eye on NEW ENDEAVOUR for a while and I’m confident he’ll take another step forward now handicapping. A mark of just 80 surely underestimates him and he should take all the beating under Jack Mitchell. He made his debut in that race won by Dance In The Grass and that has worked out notably well since. He was held up that day and basically never got competitive. It was a nice introduction though and he stepped forward to finish third at Haydock behind Desert Hero. The second Captain Winters has won to frank that form and the winner ran well behind the well regarded Silver Knott. He improved once more to finish second at Newcastle well clear from the rest and looks a colt to keep on side now. Ludo’s Landing is the danger as he showed a good attitude to prevail at Carlisle and 3lb higher here should remain competitive.

It was hard not to be impressed with the way CRYSTAL CAPRICE stretched away from them to win impressively at Yarmouth. Given the stable she represents it was no real surprise to see her so heavily supported before making a winning handicap debut at Goodwood last time. She travelled strongly into that race and showed a nice turn of foot to settle it. She is up 6lb so will need more again to win this as it is more competitive but she is clearly learning on the job and there should be more in the locker if called upon. The obvious threat is Tarrabb for Owen Burrows who is on a hat-trick having beat a good horse in Out From Under over 7f here before fending off Queen Aminatu at Haydock. That form has been somewhat let down since but she still has more to offer so should go well despite a further 7lb rise in the weights here.
